A tapered valve seat and mating valve member are in fluid communication with a squeezable container interior. Fluid in the container under pressure axially displaces the valve from its seat, flows through the interface between the valve and seat and is discharged through conduits in the valve member and stem. A gradually curved undulating valve chamber ceiling wall engages a complementary curved shoulder on the valve member for limiting the axial displacement of the valve member between a locked state and a plurality of settable maximum valve interface clearances valve open states according to the relative annular positions of the shoulder to the chamber wall. The interface clearance and thus the valve maximum open position is set according to fluid viscosity to retain fluid therein to preclude ambient air passing to the container interior in response to a negative pressure in the container. This creates forces which close the valve in each relative position. A disc-like handle knob attached to the stem overlies the housing for manually rotating the valve member open and closed and for receiving indicia indicating the relative maximum clearances at the valve interface.
An applicator device for a fluid, gel-like, pasty or powder product comprising a storage compartment in which the product is accommodated in free form, and an outlet for the product. A barrier is provided which in at least one operating condition at least partially blocks a straight path for the product from the storage compartment to the outlet.
A dispensing system is provided for dispensing a product from a container having an opening. The dispensing system includes a spout for communicating with the container opening. The spout defines at least one discharge aperture and a distal seal. A nozzle assembly is mounted on the spout for movement between a retracted, closed position and an extended, open position. The nozzle assembly includes a nozzle having a dispensing passage around at least a portion of the spout. The nozzle assembly also includes a resiliently flexible valve that is sealingly disposed across the nozzle dispensing passage at a location distally of the spout and has an initially closed dispensing orifice which opens in response to a pressure differential acting across the valve. The nozzle assembly also includes a flow restrictor below the valve, and a distal seal for sealingly engaging the spout distal seal.
A dispensing system is provided for dispensing a product from a container having an opening. The dispensing system includes a spout for communicating with the container opening. The spout defines at least one discharge aperture, a distal seal surface located distally of the discharge aperture, and a proximal seal surface located on the exterior of the spout proximally of the discharge aperture. A nozzle assembly is mounted on the spout for movement between a retracted, closed position and an extended, open position. The nozzle assembly includes a nozzle having a dispensing passage around at least a portion of the spout, a proximal seal surface for sealingly engaging the spout proximal surface, and a distal seal surface located outwardly of the nozzle proximal seal surface for sealingly engaging the spout distal seal surface when the nozzle assembly is in the retracted, closed position. The nozzle assembly also includes a resiliently flexible valve that is sealingly disposed across the nozzle dispensing passage at a location distally of the spout distal seal surface and has an initially closed dispensing orifice which opens in response to a pressure differential acting across the valve.
