There is disclosed an improved firearm, and in particular an improved rifle such as a bolt action rifle. Known rifles suffer from a number of problems, for example, accuracy, ease of disassembly, ease of assembly and realignment. Accordingly there is provided a rifle 5 comprising a stock 10 and an action 25 seated in the stock, the stock comprising a forestock 15 and a buttstock 20, wherein there are provided means for connecting a foremost end of the buttstock 20 to the action 25. The connection means allow the stock 10 and the action 25 to be releasably connecting one with the other.
A rifle, comprising a stock with a housing provided with a housing sheath and a barrel, the barrel having a barrel sleeve adapted to be removably received by the housing sheath of the housing of the stock, the housing sheath being provided with a slot extending longitudinally along said housing sheath, the housing sheath having parts for varying the slot width in the region of the slot, the diameter of the housing sheath being adjustable to the diameter of the barrel sleeve using the parts for varying the slot width, the barrel sleeve of the barrel being positively lockable with the housing sheath.
The subject matter of the invention is a rifle (1) comprising a stock (40), a forearm (30) and a barrel (20), the barrel (20) being releasably connectable to the stock (40) and said barrel (20) being fastenable to said stock (40) by bringing the forearm (30) into locking engagement with said stock (40) by means of a locking device (50), the locking device (50) being spring-loaded and the spring (60) being compressed by an actuation member (57) for the purpose of unlocking.
A firearm includes a locking mechanism for securing the stock of the firearm to the frame. The locking mechanism includes a locking member disposed on either the frame or the stock. A cam lock on the other member engages the locking member when the cam lock is rotated to pull the frame and the stock into contact with one another.
A modular gun stock includes a forestock supporting the action and barrel, and a buttstock assembly removably secured to the forestock. The length of the buttstock assembly is selected to provide a desired length of pull, such that replacement of the buttstock assembly provides ready customization of the length of the stock for different shooters, or for different shooting situations. The buttstock assembly includes two projecting locating pins that are received in complementary bores defined in the forestock. A rubber insert, located in the tip of each locating pin, and a gasket disposed between the buttstock assembly and the forestock, are respectively slightly compressed as the buttstock assembly is secured by a threaded fastener to the forestock. The durometer of the rubber insert and material of the gasket are preferably selected to lessen felt recoil and damp vibration.
A method and apparatus for loading and ejecting ignition devices into a muzzle-loading firearm. A magazine contains a plurality of ignition devices, which are sequentially loaded from the magazine onto the breech plug of the firearm by a sliding bolt or other loading assembly. After firing, the loading assembly is actuated to extract and eject the spent ignition device and load a new ignition device onto the breech plug.
