The roller is provided for pressure treatment of a strip of paper, textile, plastic film, sheet metal or similar material. It includes a hollow roller made of a fiber-reinforced synthetic resin material, and a cross-beam which passes through the hollow roller lengthwise. The cross-beam is mounted at its ends, in external supports, so as not to rotate. Hydrostatic support elements are arranged on the cross-beam on the side on which pressure is exerted. The elements can be pressed against the inside circumference of the hollow roller by means of a hydraulic fluid. The support elements have a length not exceeding 20 cm in the longitudinal direction of the hollow roller, follow each other closely in the longitudinal direction of the cross-beam, and can all be controlled independently of one another.
A method of controlling deflection of a dynamic surface having a predetermined shape includes sensing a change in the predetermined shape of the dynamic surface, providing at least one piezoelectric actuator in communication with the dynamic surface for applying a counter force thereto, and activating the at least one piezoelectric actuator for applying the counter force to the dynamic surface for returning the dynamic surface to the predetermined shape.
An improved dough sheeting system and method which allow for improved selection of sheeter gap size and which provide a quick release mechanism to prevent damage to sheeter rollers. Hydraulic actuators, attached to a movable roller, hold the roller in a fixed position relative to an opposing roller. The actuators are engaged with a closing force in excess of the force exerted by the sheeted material against the rollers thereby ensuring that the rollers maintain a gap of fixed width. Thermal expansion blocks mounted to the frame or housing of the opposing roller provide a means for fine adjustments in the sheeter gap.
Roll for smoothing paper webs including a hard roll core and an elastic covering layer provided on an outside of the core. The elastic covering includes an elastic matrix material, and is structured to operate within a temperature range between approximately 25.degree. C. and 150.degree. C. The elastic covering is further structured to operate with a nip frequency of between about 0.3 Hz and 5 Hz, and to be regionally compressible and to operate with a surface compression amplitude of between about 15 .mu.m and 50 .mu.m. The covering is further structured for a total dissipated energy of less than approximately 0.9J/cm.sup.3.
The present invention is directed to a roll cover for a calender or press roll for treating a material web. The roll cover includes a layer of elastomeric material having filaments running approximately longitudinally with respect to a web run direction and transversely to the web run direction embedded for reinforcement, and at least one layer of additional reinforcing filaments embedded in at least some sections of the elastomeric layer. The additional reinforcing filaments run at an angle between 20.degree. and 70.degree. with respect to the web run direction. The layer is arranged to form roll ends connectable to a roll axle. The instant abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.
6554755 - Roller device - Owned by Eduard Kusters Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG (Krefeld,DE)
A roller device is presented that includes a roller with a cylindrical roller body that forms a working roller circumference. The roller, which has a equalization system, is mounted at its ends so as to rotate. The equalization system has tempering devices that are assigned to the roller body. The devices extend over the length of the roller body and act on the roller, which are arranged in a recess of the roller body and by means of which the roller body can be preferentially tempered in a narrow circumference angle region adjacent to a plane that passes through the axis of the roller body.
