The invention provides a method for treating a tic disorder comprising administering an effective amount of 2-methyl-4-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-10H-thieno[2,3-b][1,5]benzodiazepine.
A method for treating attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) includes performing an objective ADHD behavioral assay for a patient, administering a drug to the patient at varying doses, and performing an fMRI on the patient for the varying drug doses to determine an optimal dosage for the patient. The method can further include performing a further objective ADHD behavioral assay after the drug administration.
The invention provides three new polymorphic forms of 2-methyl-4-[4-methyl-1-piperazinyl]-10H-thieno[2,3b][1,5]benzodiazepine (Olanzapine) (Formula A), the process for preparing the new polymorphs and pharmaceutical compositions containing the polymorphs. The new polymorphic forms of olanzapine are useful for the treatment of psychotic conditions, mild anxiety and gastrointestinal conditions. ##STR1##
A technique for computing a T2 relaxation time (RT) and for using the so computed T2 RT to provide an output which can aid in the detection of brain dysfunction including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The technique includes the step of obtaining T*1 matched axial images through a predetermined number of axial planes in a subject and obtaining one or more spin echo, echoplanar image sets, with TE incremented by a predetermined value in each consecutive image set through the same axial planes. The images are used to generate a map of T2 for each of the T*1 matched axial images and regions of interest (ROI) are identified in the matched axial images. Median pixel intensity values in the ROI are then used to compute a T2 relaxation time.
Pharmaceutical compositions containing Form III, Form IV, Form V olanzapine and/or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The pharmaceutical compositions are useful for the treatment of psychotic conditions, mild anxiety and gastrointestinal conditions. In particular, the compositions are useful for treating schizophrenia and related disorders, acute mania, Bipolar I Disorder, psychotic mood disorder and psychosis in patients with Alzheimer's disease.
