Method of blocking nerve conduction by treatment with branched-chain esters of 2-[4-(2-piperidine-ethoxy)-benzoyl]-benzoic acid and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof
Compounds of the formula III ##STR1## in which R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are CH.sub.3 amd R.sub.6 is hydrogen, have prolonged spasmolytic and anaesthetic activity.

An identification system for use in controlling the operation of a device comprises comparing fingerprint data with stored data to identify both an individual and which of the individual's fingerprints has been input, and using the identity of the individual and the finger in controlling the operation of the device.
