Abstract
A capping mechanism for an ink jet print head, both of which are mounted on a carrier for lateral movement on a laterally extending guide rail by a motor controlled by a control device in a direction across a recording medium placed in an ink jet printer. The ink jet print head has a plurality of ink ejection nozzles for forming characters on the recording medium as it laterally moves across the recording medium under the control of the control device in response to the inputting of such characters by a keyboard. The capping mechanism is also mounted for sliding movement relative to the ink ejection nozzles of the ink jet print head between a capped position and an uncapped position. In the capped position, the capping mechanism forms an air tight seal with the ink ejection nozzles. A device, such as mechanical stops or an electromagnet, is also provided to slide the capping mechanism between the capped position and the uncapped position.

7267423 - Printhead assembly using a fluidic seal for sealing a nozzle chamber - Owned by Silverbrook Research Pty Ltd (Balmain, New South Wales,AU)

A printer includes a printhead having a plurality of ink jet nozzle assemblies. The nozzle assemblies include a substrate; a nozzle displaceably arranged relative to the substrate, the nozzle defining a nozzle opening such that, in use, upon displacement of the nozzle relative to the substrate, ink is ejected through the opening; and an inhibiting means arranged intermediate the substrate and the nozzle for inhibiting leakage of ink from around a periphery of the nozzle.

7306317 - Inkjet printer comprising printhead and capping device - Owned by Silverbrook Research Pty Ltd (Balmain, New South Wales,AU)

An inkjet printer comprising a printhead assembly is provided. The printhead assembly comprises a printhead module configured for ejecting ink in a first direction and a capping device. The capping device is reciprocally movable between an open position in which the printhead module may eject ink onto a print medium, and a closed position in which a blocking part of the capping device blocks the printhead module from ejecting ink onto a print medium. The capping device comprises a first surface for engagement with a second surface of the assembly, the first and second surfaces being configured to move the blocking part of the capping device away from the printhead module in the first direction during movement from the open to the closed position.

7380924 - Printhead assembly with an elongate ink delivery member - Owned by Silverbrook Research Pty Ltd (Balmain, New South Wales,AU)

A printhead assembly for an ink jet printer includes an elongate channel member having a floor and a pair of opposed side walls. An elongate elastomeric ink delivery member has longitudinally extending delivery conduits and is positioned on the floor. One end of the ink delivery member is engageable with an ink supply to the delivery conduits and an opposite end with a closure to close the ink delivery conduits. The ink delivery member defines a series of patterned holes in fluid communication with the ink delivery conduits. A series of printhead modules are releasably engaged with the elongate channel member to extend end-to-end along the channel member. Each printhead module includes an ink distribution structure in fluid communication with the series of patterned holes. A printhead integrated circuit is mounted on the ink distribution structure to receive ink from the ink distribution structure.
