Abstract
A training device for improving the golf swing by providing immediate feedback of incorrect club positioning in the backswing and forward swing. The device senses the attitude of the club during the swing and comprises a small housing or case which attaches temporarily to the shaft of the golf club adjacent the club grip. Contained within the housing are one or more attitude sensing means, such as a mercury switch, connected in circuit to a power source, such as a battery, and an indicator means, such as a vibrator or an audible alarm, such that the indicator means is activated either when the golf club is correctly maintained during the swing within an acceptable swing path area defined by a limited deviation angle on either side of the ideal swing plane, or alternatively only when the golf club is incorrectly positioned out of the acceptable swing path area.

6849814 - Adjustable three-axis gravity switch - Owned by PAR Technology, Inc. (Jacksonville Beach, FL)

A gravity-type sensor device comprising a switch which monitors the position of an object over a three dimensional pathway which extends dimensionally about all three orthogonal axes where the object may be tilted, rotated or inverted, as well as translated through space rather than maintained at a fixed location, so as to provide a signal to indicate that the object is moving in the correct three dimensional manner, whereby the switch is disposed within an external housing in a manner that allows the position of the switch to be altered relative to the housing, thereby allowing the angle or plane of the pathway to be adjusted when the housing is attached to different objects.

7494421 - System, method, and apparatus for athletic swing training

A system for swing training including a swing plane component defining a predefined plane around an athlete, a planar guidance component configured to guide a striking member along the predefined plane, and a securing member configured to couple the planar guidance component to the striking member.

6398663 - Golf position and parallel indicating device for the top of backswing

The present invention 10 discloses a golf club 12 having a canister-like housing 46 attached thereto. The housing 46 contains a group of mercury switches 58, 59 mounted internally on a pair of rotatable platforms 46 between two discs 60 which discs are connected to a rotational dial member 48 having a scale of degrees 52 displayed thereon. The rotational dial member 48 functions with a number of fixedly connected elements in concert with the mercury switches 58, 59 to selectively actuate a plurality of LED's 16 which LED's indicate the physical relationship of the golf club 12 with a fixed object, e.g., the ground, so that the golfer 18 can practice his/her golf swing.

7331875 - Attachable sensor for putting stroke path and plane detection - Owned by Audio Coach Pty Ltd. (Killara, NSW,AU)

A putter trainer device for detecting inaccuracies in a golf puffing stroke. The puffing trainer device of the present invention is releasably (2) attached to a shaft of a golf putter and comprises two guided ramps (19A, 19B) with each ramp having an active position and a neutral position. In one embodiment, a free rolling disc magnet (20A, 20B) is located upon each guided ramp and each free rolling disc magnet is biased towards the neutral position (23A, 23B) on its respective ramp. The movement of either free rolling magnet from the neutral position to the active position is detected by magnetic reed switches (25A, 25B) located adjacent each ramp. A speaker is activated when the magnetic reed switches detect that either free rolling magnet has moved from the neutral position to the active position.

6739981 - Golf club angular orientation indicating device

A golf club angular orientation indicating device includes an indicator housing, a switch plate and a shaft clamp. The shaft clamp is slidably received by the indicator housing. An orientation bore is formed in the indicator housing to receive the switch plate. The switch plate is retained on one end by the indicator housing and on the other end by a power plate. The switch plate includes at least two tilt switches mounted on at least two spring loaded pivot plates. A hold down bolt is used to adjust the angular orientation of the at least two tilt switches. Power is preferably supplied to the at least two tilt switches through at least one battery and an on-off switch. Closing the circuit of the at least two tilt switches will supply power to a light emitting device and/or a sound emitting device.
