Abstract
A seat lift employs an integral linkage which causes the seating surface to rise, move forward and tilt as the unit is actuated. The seat motion emulates the natural motion of a person rising from a seated position and is directed by combined linkages of different lengths. A hinged section of the front of the seat surface doubles as an integral linkage and provides a vertical component of motion when the seat is powered. The linkage mechanism is easily adapted to seat lifts of all kinds, such as wheelchairs and public seating in addition to furniture and a portable seat lift. When pneumatically powered, the system employs an easily replaced air chamber which has standardized mounting features and is a cylinder formed of flexible, non-elastic fabric. Separate, easily controlled means are provided to inflate and deflate the air chamber.

6317909 - Arising aid

An arising aid to allow individuals needing assistance in raising from a seating position to a standing position. When the device is placed on a chair seat, the user may inflate bellows in the device by rocking from side to side. The inflated bellows raise the seated person to a near standing position, where the user may be able to stand without further assistance.

6637818 - Portable lift seat apparatus

A lift seat specifically suited for assisting an individual from a seated to a standing position or from a standing to a seated position. The lift seat has a hinged seat platform that is pivotally coupled with a base platform and a lift link assembly coupled to a wheeled carriage. The wheeled carriage is driven linearly by a motor powered lead screw that operates in either direction of rotation to advance the position of the carriage. The movement of the carriage in one direction causes the lift link assembly to raise the seat platform while the movement in the opposite direction causes the platform to lower.

7455360 - Seating furniture with lift mechanism - Owned by L & P Property Management (South Gate, CA)

An article of seating furniture is provided with a lift mechanism. The article can be a chair with a base and a seat that is pivotally connected to the base. A back is coupled to the seat and may be either fixed to the seat or rotatably coupled to the seat. An actuator is mounted to the base extending towards the rear of the chair. The actuator is pivotally coupled to the base on one end and is pivotally coupled to the seat on the other end. The actuator moves the seat between a generally horizontal position and a raised position. With the back rotatably mounted to the seat, a linkage bar can be added that extends from base front to a bracket that mounts the back to the seat. The linkage bar reclines the back as the seat is raised from horizontal position to the raised position.

6702383 - Electric lifting cushion

An electric seat assist device having a seat pivotally secured to a base. One or more cam members extend in generally opposing relationship from the seat and base and are seated on one or more sets of rollers which are linearly adjusted to raise and lower the seat by a drive member which is pivotally mounted relative to the base and the rollers of the seat assist device. Stroke detectors are used to control motor drivingly connected to the drive member after being activated to initiate raising or lowering of the seat.

6871364 - Foot lift

Support method and apparatus for providing a secure and stable method for a user/patient to transfer a body part, such as a foot, into and out of a bed independently, and thus enhance in-bed mobility. The support for the body part is by a rest member having an associated expandable member. The rest member is a platform configured to the body part being supported, and the expandable member is a bellows adhered to the platform and expandable by a compressor. In the method a body part is positioned on the rest member, which is expanded with the body part thereon.
