Abstract
The present invention provides a structural graph display system which utilizes index tables and index numbers to replace repeatedly occurred graphic parameters stored in a graphic description file so that overall memory requirement for storing the graphic description file can be substantially reduced. Within the graphic description file, a plurality of structural graphs are stored. Each structural graph comprises at least one sub-graph and each sub-graph contains a plurality of sub-graph parameters for drawing the sub-graph within a target area. One of the sub-graph parameters is defined as a target parameter. An index table of the target parameter is stored in the system which comprises a set of frequently used target parameters, an index number for each frequently used target parameter, and a special index number. In the graphic description file, each target parameter is changed according to the following rule: if the target parameter is one of the frequently used target parameters in the index table, it is replaced by a correspondent index number, or else it is replaced by the special index number plus the target parameter.

6225989 - Matrix character generation system - Owned by Arphic Technology Co., Ltd. (Taipei,TW)

The present invention provides a matrix character generation system comprising a memory for storing data and programs, a processor for executing the programs stored in the memory, and a screen for displaying matrix graphs generated by the matrix character generation system. The memory comprises a character table for recording all the strokes that form each character, a stroke table for recording the parameters of each stroke, and a graph generation program for displaying the matrix graph of each character on the screen according to the character table and the stroke table. When generating a new character, the graph generation program searches the character table for the stroke IDs of all the strokes of the character and the position of each stroke in the matrix according to the WID of the character. Then it searches the stroke table for the matrix graphic data of each stroke according to the stroke ID of each stroke. Finally, it draws the matrix graph of each stroke in the matrix according to the position and matrix graphic data of each stroke to form the matrix graph of the character.

6229551 - Structural graph display system - Owned by Arphic Technology Co., Ltd. (Taipei)

The present invention provides a structural graph display system which makes use of central region distribution of graphic parameters to make index tables to reduce the bit number required for storing each graphic parameter. Each structural graph is formed by at least one sub-graph, and each sub-graph comprises a plurality of parameters which includes a target parameter array. The system further comprises an index table which comprises a set of reference parameter arrays. Each reference parameter array has a corresponding reference index number. The index table further has at least one special index number. Within the graphic description file, each sub-graph of a structural graph has a replacement ID for replacing the target parameter array; if the offset between the target parameter array and any reference parameter array is within a predetermining offset range, the replacement ID is formed by the reference index number of the reference parameter array and a offset array. If not, the replacement ID is formed by the special index number and the target parameter array.

6275237 - Structural graph display system - Owned by Arphic Technology Co., Ltd. (Taipei,TW)

A structural graph displaying system for generating a new structural graph by changing sub-graphs of an existent structural graph. The displaying system includes a drawing control program for controlling the drawing process of a character, a contour changing program for changing the contour of a stroke along a contour changing direction, and a graph integration program for integrating and outputting the changed contours of all strokes of a character onto a screen. The displaying system further includes a stroke table for storing a stroke ID and corresponding stroke drawing program of each stroke, and a character description file for storing various stroke parameters of each character. The character description file includes an index file and a stroke description table of each character. The index table contains a WID of each character and the addresses of the correspondent stroke description tables. The stroke description table is used for recording the stroke data of all strokes, such as the stroke ID, key points, and widths. The character description file further includes a contour change description file for recording various changing rules and parameters based on which of the contours of a stroke is changed.

6034701 - Method and system for displaying mixed sized fonts for character based displays - Owned by Electronic Data Systems Corporation (Plano, TX)

A method for displaying a representation of a character on a computer display includes receiving a first primary character string comprising at least one character selected from a primary character set. The method also includes receiving a first desired location for displaying a representation of the first primary character. The method also includes generating a plurality of intermediate character strings corresponding to the first primary character string. The intermediate character strings include at least one intermediate character selected from a predefined intermediate character set. The predefined intermediate character set is defined before receiving the first primary character string and includes a plurality of intermediate characters each corresponding to a fractional portion of a primary character in the primary character set. The method also includes displaying representations of the plurality of intermediate character strings on the computer display in a location sufficient to display the representation of the primary character string at the first desired location.
