System and method for facilitating the positioning of an antenna adaptable for receiving transmitted signals wherein antenna alignment values obtained from equalizer tap-weight values are displayed so as to provide an indication as to whether or not the antenna is properly aligned. Such antenna alignment values may change gradually as the antenna is rotated or moved. As a result, an installer can easily position or point an antenna in the direction of the transmission site.
A system and method for aligning an antenna. Signals broadcasted over a number of channels for each of a plurality of orientations of the antenna may be received. From such received signals, information pertaining to at least one of (i) an error rate, (ii) a signal level, (iii) equalizer tap coefficients, and (iv) error correction for each orientation of the antenna for each channel is obtained and used to determine an acceptable orientation for the antenna for each channel.
A satellite ready building comprises a plurality of studs and satellite wires positioned adjacent to the studs having a first termination and a second termination. A connector is coupled to the second termination of the wires. The first termination is coupled through the roof or the siding of the building. Drywall is installed in the house after the wires are installed. The first termination may be installed in a radome positioned on the roof of the building.
A signal of a desired channel is selected by a tuner from digital broadcasting is received by an antenna. The condition of the radio wave received by the antenna, which is judged from an AGC signal of the signal of the channel selected by the tuner, a Sync signal detected by a synchronization establishment unit and the number of errors which have not been corrected by a forward error corrector 10, is displayed on an indicator. The receiving direction or position of the antenna can be easily decided on the basis of the condition of the received radio wave of the antenna, which is displayed on the indicator, so that received video has a C/N within thresholds.
An HDTV receiver coupled to a terrestrial antenna displays real-time signal strength of terrestrial digital television signals. A graphical user interface preferably displays various data relating to all terrestrial television signals in a scrollable grid format. The grid is displayed within an active video display of a selected television signal from the grid. Audio for the selected channel is also active. A list of all channels tuned or selected is maintained to aid in searching. Channel lists are updated during certain channel searches.
An antenna setting apparatus that allows a user to receive a broadcast from a desired direction easily and excellently is configured as follows: an antenna setting apparatus includes: a control unit changing the direction of a smart antenna with high sensitivity; a tuner extracting a signal; a CPU controlling the control unit, controlling the frequency of the signal extracted by the tuner and controlling the control unit to change the direction with high sensitivity; an OSD outputting an information set represented by the signal; a remote control reception unit accepting a selection; a first area of a memory storing an information set, where the information set is stored in association with the direction of the smart antenna and the frequency of the signal; and a second area of the memory storing the direction and the frequency corresponding to the information set designated by the selection.
