A sound delivery system comprises at least one elongated speaker mounting element. A multiplicity of individual speakers are mounted in the mounting element to form a linear array of speakers with each speaker being adapted to radiate sound in a direction transverse to the array. The number of speakers and the spacing between them are selected so as to focus the sound emanated by the speakers by reducing dispersion of sound in the direction of the linear array. A device is also included for coupling audio signals to the speakers.

A system and a method for mounting a speaker unit (12). The system (12) containing a surface mounting bracket (14) including at least one attaching feature (20) and a speaker unit (12). The speaker unit (12) comprises at least one audio speaker (42) and a semi-circular shaped surface (41). The shaped surface (41) defines a plurality of angularly spaced apart receiving features (44). The plurality of angularly spaced apart receiving features (44) are adapted for removably engaging said at least one attaching feature (20). In another embodiment, a speaker mounting system (10) contains a detachable base stand (60) having at least one base attaching feature (62) and a speaker unit (12) defines a plurality of angularly spaced apart receiving features (44). The plurality of angularly spaced apart receiving features (44) are adapted for removably engaging said at least one base attaching feature (62).
A speaker assembly is provided for enclosure within a structural pole. The speaker assembly includes a sub-plate adapted to be affixed adjacent to an internal cavity formed in a fixed end of the structural pole. A speaker is mounted to the sub-plate and oriented such that acoustical vibrations provided by the speaker are directed toward an underlying support surface of the structural pole. A resonating chamber member is oriented within the structural pole internal cavity and has an open end mounted adjacent to the speaker. The resonating chamber member is sized to match the speaker.
A support base for supporting a structural pole is provided. The support base includes a frame having an internal cavity for housing hardware, such as a speaker assembly, that is associated with the corresponding structural pole. The frame is generally open laterally thereabout for permitting access to the internal cavity. A footing region of the support base secures the frame to an underlying support surface and a platform atop the frame receives the structural pole thereon. The frame is sized to receive an ornamental protective cover thereabout for enhancing the aesthetic perspective of the base and for protecting the hardware within the frame internal cavity.
