6425548 - Keyed hub and core for ribbon supply - Owned by Pitney Bowes Inc. (Stamford, CT)

A core/hub assembly for a printing device that provides for easy alignment and insertion, and maintains a secure interface to prevent slippage of the core during printer operation, is disclosed. A hub includes keys mounted at a proximal end which serve to transmit torque when engaged with a core. The hub further includes splines configured to be received within a core and provide longitudinal support thereto. A core includes a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs that cooperate to form channels configured to receive the splines of the hub. A portion of the ribs include compliant radially oriented leaf springs which center the core on the hub and provide a physical fit of the core on the hub by engaging the keys at the proximal end of the core when properly inserted therein.

7086628 - Ink ribbon core - Owned by International Imaging Materials, Inc. (Amherst, NY)

A core includes a tubular body that supports a wound sheet roll. The tubular body having open ends includes an annular outer surface receiving the sheet roll, and an annular inner surface defining a bore that receives a spindle. A plurality of ribs project inwardly from the body inner surface and extend axially between the open ends for nesting in corresponding slots in the spindle. Each of the ribs includes a bevel at one end for frictionally engaging a corresponding spindle slots to retain the core axially. Another set of frictional retention ribs projects inwardly from the body inner surface and extends radially between the axial ribs.

6823789 - Cylinder cleaning device and cylinder cleaning fabric used therefor - Owned by Baldwin-Japan Ltd. (Tokyo,JP)

Divided shaft members constitute a cleaning fabric take-up shaft, and are secured at both ends by shaft member fixing means that is attached to a side plate. Shaft member fixing portions include a shaft end supporter, for supporting the end of the shaft member, and a plug that is fitted to a shaft receiving section. A wedge portion is provided, which runs across the center of the shaft end supporter and is projected linearly. When this wedge portion is inserted between the shaft members, the diameter of the shaft is increased. At this time, the winding of the cleansing fabric is performed. To dispose of the wound cleaning fabric, the shaft members are detached from the shaft member fixing portions and the wedge is extracted from the shaft members, so that the diameter is reduced, and the cleaning fabric is disengaged from the shaft members. As a result, the cleaning fabric take-up shaft can be removed from the cleaning fabric roll.

6655598 - Methods of creating a tamper resistant informational article

Methods of creating tamper resistant informational articles and related products are disclosed. In one embodiment, a tamper resistant informational article is provided by creating a base with an elongated metal core having extruded therearound a resinous plastic material. A magnetic media storage element is secured to this base. An antenna may be provided. In another embodiment, a lens is created by providing an elongated transparent layer, forming a hologram in the lower surface thereof and applying information to the hologram. The lens is then secured to a base to protectively surround the information. In another embodiment, a preformed transparent hologram-containing article has information added thereto and is then metallized. A protective resinous layer may be secured over the metallized layer. In another variation of the embodiment, a lens has a preformed transparent hologram, one or more metallized portions are provided and may be altered through selective application of heat to predetermined parts thereof to create information which may be fixed or variable. Printing may be provided on the hologram before metallizing. A base portion protectively underlies the modified metallized layer.

7156341 - Ribbon core for universal mounting - Owned by International Imaging Materials, Inc. (Amherst, NY)

A versatile core has a tubular body with opposing ends and includes a circumferential wall for receiving the sheet roll. A plurality of circumferentially spaced apart crush ribs project radially inward from the annular inner surface and extend axially between the ends for nesting in corresponding slots in the spindle. The crush ribs are defined by a plurality of cut outs, which are provided at each of the opposing ends and are defined by the circumferential wall. The cut outs accept and engage various configurations of ribs of a spindle assembly, with the ribs of the spindle located between the crush ribs of the core. The exterior surface of the tubular body may have a texture selected to provide the desired adhesion between the tape (attaching the sheet roll to the core) and the body surface of the cylindrical body.
