6804123 - Computer mainframe with superposed architecture - Owned by King Young Technology Co., Ltd. (Taipei,TW)

A computer mainframe includes a housing, a motherboard, an intermediate circuit board, and a supporting bracket. A CD-ROM and a hard disk are attached to upper and lower sides, respectively, of the intermediate circuit board to sequentially superpose on and electrically connect to the motherboard via various connecting terminals provided at specific positions on the upper and the lower side of the intermediate circuit board. With the vertically superposed architecture of the mainframe, no space-occupying flat cable is needed for wiring the mainframe, enabling the mainframe to have a largely reduced volume.

6491298 - Thermal management system for a gaming machine - Owned by IGT (Reno, NV)

A disclosed gaming machine provides a thermal management system comprised of fans, vents and a particular configuration of thermal sources (e.g. CPU, power supply, monitor) and gaming machine components (e.g. printer, coin hopper, etc.). For a given component packaging scheme within the gaming machine cabinet, the thermal management system uses natural convention and a system of fans to cool the gaming machine cabinet by pulling air over the thermal sources and directing the air towards the top of the gaming machine. The pulling action of the fans helps to maintain laminar flow within the gaming machine cabinet which reduces heat transfer with the gaming machine cabinet. Additionally, the fans are configured to prevent dust accumulation on sensitive components such as the CPU and other electronics and to minimize the noise level outside of the gaming machine.

6049455 - Cooling unit for cooling a heat-generating components and electronic apparatus having the cooling unit - Owned by Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba (Kawasaki,JP) Toshiba Home Technology (Kamo,JP)

A cooling unit comprising a heat radiating plate and an electric fan device. The heat radiating plate has thermal conductivity and comprises a heat receiving portion and a heat exchanging portion, which are arranged side by side. The heat receiving portion is thermally connected to a heat-generating component. The heat exchanging portion is made integral with the heat receiving portion. The fan device having a fan and a flat fan casing. The fan casing has an air inlet port for drawing cooling air when the fan is driven, an air outlet port for guiding the cooling air, and an opening opposing the inlet port. The opening closed by the heat radiating plate.

6606254 - Cooling module grounding structure and method and electronic apparatus with the structure - Owned by Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba (Tokyo,JP)

An electronic component is mounted on a printed circuit board, and a metal cooling module for cooling the electronic component is opposed to the electronic component. A vertical support mechanism supports the cooling module such that the cooling module is kept in pressure contact with the electronic component, the pressure being exerted perpendicular to the surface of the printed circuit board and falling within a predetermined range. The cooling module is grounded via an elastic member having electrical conductivity.

6525933 - Computer peripheral mounting bracket - Owned by Hewlett-Packard Company (Palo Alto, CA)

A three-sided computer peripheral mounting bracket has two opposing guide rail sides and a front side but has no back side. The two opposing guide rail sides are operable to engage a computer chassis to guide the bracket during insertion and removal therefrom and to support the bracket after insertion therein. Each of the two opposing guide rail sides includes indented surfaces that are indented inward relative to outside surfaces of the guide rail sides. Each of the indented surfaces defines a recess for receiving an isolation grommet through which a computer peripheral device may be coupled to the bracket. Due to its shape, the bracket may be formed from a single piece of sheet metal. A spacer rod may be engaged between the isolation grommets to help keep the bracket square when it is not populated with the computer peripheral device. The front side of the bracket may include place holders for storing mounting screws and may include a curved handle.
