In a preferred embodiment, an identification code having therein both general information which is encrypted using standards symbologies and security information which is encrypted using a unique symbology. In the case of bar codes, the bar code may include two separate sets of bars. One set of bars may include basic information, for example an employee's identification number, encrypted using standard symbologies which may be read in any standard reader. The other set of bars includes security information which is encrypted using a unique symbology which can be read only in a special reader and which is meaningless to a standard bar code reader or bar code duplicator. Thus, where security is a factor, the special readers would be provided; but, where security is not a factor, the basic identification could be read by any standard reader.

The present invention to a system for positioning staff in an office, which comprises a plurality of fixed identification reader devices, a plurality of identification devices and a host computer. Each staff carries the identification device. The identification reader devices are places at fixed points of the terminal of the system to record and identify staff near the terminal. The host computer is used for collecting and recording the information read by the reader devices. Thereby, the system for position staff in an office according to the present invention could manage the staff in an office efficiently.
The present invention relates to a library apparatus for accommodating different types of recording medium, such as magnetic tapes, in combination. By a method for reading markers, in which the type of the recording medium and its volume label are recorded, by moving a reader, and a construction for sorting and accommodating the different types of recording medium, the markers can be read at a high speed.
Described is a system for configuring a wireless mobile device for operation on a wireless network including a receiving element to receive configuration information for the wireless device and a generation element to generate codes for an optically readable element, the optically readable element configured to be read by the wireless device, wherein the configuration information configures the wireless device for operation on a wireless network.
A method for processing information wherein information is received from a plurality of bar code scanners, preferably reading web codes, the source and destination information for the received information is determined and data from the received information is distributed to at least one destination identified by the destination information.
Barcode data communication methods, barcode embedding methods, and barcode systems are described. According to one embodiment, a barcode data communication method includes accessing a composite image comprising a disguised barcode image incapable of being directly read from a base image by a barcode reader, extracting data corresponding to the barcode image from the composite image, modifying the data to provide the barcode image in a state wherein the barcode image may be directly read by a barcode reader, and reading the barcode image using the barcode reader after the modifying.
