A substantially conventional case for a CD is secured by a security tag. The security tag is formed from sheet material having an adhesive surface which is secured to both the lid and the base of the case to retain the case closed and to secure the CD therein. A security device is secured to the adhesive security tag. This security device is an article surveillance device detectible by detectors provided in gangway structures at the exits of retail outlets.
Generally speaking, the present invention comprises a method for securing a timepiece to a display unit. The timepiece includes a head and a strap, and the display unit includes a member adapted to support the timepiece. The method includes the steps of: arranging the timepiece upon the member; affixing a security device to a securing means; and securing the securing means about the strap of the timepiece and a portion of the member, wherein the timepiece is secured to the member by the securing means. In one embodiment, the method includes the step of affixing the security device to the securing means by means of an adhesive. For example, the securing means is an adhesive layer having a center portion, a first side flap and a second side flap opposite the first side flap, and the method includes an initial step of tapering the ends of the first and second side flaps opposite the center portion. In another embodiment, the method for securing a timepiece to a display unit includes the steps of: arranging the timepiece upon the member; providing a securing means about the strap of the timepiece and a portion of the member, wherein the timepiece is secured to the member by the securing means; and providing a security device and securing the security device intermediate the member and the strap by the securing means.
A tag having a reinforcible opening is disclosed. The tag includes first and second major surfaces. It further includes an adhesive layer affixed to one of the major surfaces and substantially covered by a removable liner material. The tag has two openings arranged such that when the liner material is removed and the tag is folded along a fold line the adhesive bonds the tag into a folded position wherein the openings are aligned to form a single continuous opening through the tag.
A harmonic responsive electronic article surveillance marker is associated with a central, non-recorded region and/or a peripheral non-recorded region of an optically recorded or recordable media. The marker comprising at least one elongated strip, optionally having an arcuate configuration, and composed of soft magnetic material adapted to generate a harmonic signal voltage in the presence of an applied magnetic field which provides the marker with signal identity. Advantageously, the marker is inexpensive to construct. It is readily attached to or embedded in the non-recorded region and/or the peripheral non-recorded region, and generates a high amplitude, harmonic signal voltage having significantly increased detection sensitivity. With these attributes, the marker is especially suited for electronic surveillance of recorded media such as compact disks, digital video disks, laser disks and the like.
The present invention relates to a method for combining RF-EAS circuits with paperboard for producing disposable RF-EAS security tags, or to a method for manufacturing paperboard packaging, such as trays, lids, cartons containers or combinations with an integral RF-EAS security tag.
A method and system for preventing theft of an object, includes an electronic article surveillance (EAS) device operatively attached to an object, a security path for detection of the EAS device, a reader operatively coupled to the security path, and a smart card for being read by the reader. The smart card contains an identification profile of an authorized user of the object.
