A lock assembly having a first body portion configured to lock with a second body portion. The first body portion includes a first end having a first aperture and a second aperture aligned in perpendicularly intersection with the first aperture. The second aperture retains a pair of locking balls. The second body portion includes an aperture configured to receive the first end of the first body portion. The aperture of the second body portion also includes a circumferential groove configured to receive a portion of the pair of locking balls in a locked position of the first body portion with the second body portion. A keyway locking cylinder is configured to axially drive a beveled point of an extension into the first aperture of the first body portion and force the pair of locking balls in a radially outward direction into the locked position with the circumferential groove.

6505488 - Spare tire lock

A tire lock mounts to an opening in the vehicle frame in order to suspend a locking bar down through an opening in the spare wheel. A locking device may then be slid over the distal end of the locking bar in order to lock the spare wheel securely in place. The locking device is designed to accept a lock cylinder from the manufacturer's easily-defeated spare tire lock, so that the locking device of the present invention may be keyed with the remaining locks of the vehicle. The locking mechanism of the present invention also incorporates a spring-loaded resilient boot which engages the vehicle spare wheel lug nut hole, thereby preventing annoying rattling between the spare tire lock of the present invention and the spare tire.

6543260 - Receiver lock - Owned by Fulton Performance Products, Inc. (Mosinee, WI)

A coupler lock for securing a device within a sleeve of a vehicle hitch to prevent unauthorized removal of the device which can include a hitch ball insert, a cargo platform, bike carrier or similar accessory designed to be attached to the vehicle. The coupler lock includes a lock housing removably attached to one end of a lock bar configured to pass through apertures within the hitch sleeve and insert. The lock housing has a plurality of ball bearings radially movable in and out of an annular groove to lock and release the bar. A locking cup longitudinally movable within the lock housing in response to movement of the lock cylinder retains the bearings within the groove or releases the bearings from removal of the lock bar from the lock housing.
