Compositions of the anticholinergic agent trospium chloride suitable for localized administration are provided, in the form of an aqueous solution having a pH-value of.gtoreq.4.5, that is prepared prior to administration. Methods of using the provided compositions for treating dysfunctions of the bladder and the urinary system are also provided. The treatment methods are characterized by the intravesicular administration of the inventive composition into the bladder of a patient in need thereof
Methods are disclosed using Trospium Chloride, an antimuscarinic smooth muscle relaxant, for the treatment of urinary incontinence, and other disorders, while avoiding the concomitant liability of adverse side effects associated with other antimuscarinic drugs.
Methods for treating humans suffering from, migraine headaches by inhibiting reuptake of norepinephrine are disclosed. The methods comprise a compound having a pharmacological selectivity of serotonin (K.sub.i)/norepinephrine (K.sub.i) of at least about 5000. Examples of such compounds include reboxetine, and more preferably optically pure (S,S) enantiomer of reboxetine.
Methods are disclosed using trospium, an antimuscarinic smooth muscle relaxant, for the treatment of smooth muscle disorders, while avoiding the concomitant liability of adverse side effects associated with conventional antimuscarinic treatment.
Methods and compositions for treating humans suffering from, or preventing a human from suffering, a physiological or psychiatric disease, disorder, or a condition where inhibiting reuptake of norepinephrine is a benefit are disclosed. The methods comprise administering the optically pure (S,S) enantiomer of reboxetine. The methods generally include administration of a therapeutic amount of such compositions. Also disclosed are preparations of a medicament from the composition, and uses of the composition in a manufacture of the medicament to treat a human suffering from, or preventing a human from suffering, a physiological or psychiatric disease, disorder, or condition.
This application relates to methods for treating humans suffering from, fibromyalgia or other somatoform disorders where inhibiting reuptake of norepinephrine is a benefit. The methods comprise a compound having a pharmacological selectivity of serotonin (K.sub.1)/norepinephrine (K.sub.1) of at least about 5000. Examples of such compounds include reboxetine, and more preferably optically pure (S,S) enantiomer of reboxetine.
