A block used to space guardrails from support posts. The positioning or spacer block is a generally rectangular block having corded-out cavities to reduce weight and tabs or projections for cooperatively engaging the sides and top of a support post as well as the edges of the guardrail during roadway safety barrier system installation. Webbing within one or more of the cavities is used for additional structural support. The spacer block may be formed by low-pressure injection molding to optimize the strength to weight characteristics of the spacer block. The spacer block is formed from virgin and/or recycled plastic material and/or includes virgin or recycled rubber material, such as that obtained from the regrind of used tires, and/or another elastomeric materials from other sources.

A guardrail support, attachment and positioning block used to space guardrails from support posts is disclosed. A flexible road safety-guard is provided. The road safety-guard has a base 1, an upright column 2, a safety-guard 3 and connectors. The base 1 is positioned at the lower end of the upright column 2 forming an integrated whole therewith. Mounting holes are provided in the safety-guard. Each of the upright column, the base and the safety-guard is made of Rotational Grade Polyethylene material by slush molding and has hollow structure. Male and female die block interfaces are formed respectively at each end of the safety-guard along its length, that is, one end is an insert interface having smaller outer profile and the other end is a mating interface which engages with the insert interface. The safety-guard 3 has a cross-sectional shape which is substantially flat on one side and contoured on an opposite side, the contoured side having vertically spaced arcuate portions interconnected by a flattened portion. The present utility invention is extremely flexible, so that in the event of a vehicle crash it has extremely high shock absorption to eliminate to the utmost energy generated by the shock. Meanwhile, it can greatly reduce the damage to the vehicle as well as the injuries or deaths. Generally it needs no maintenance and is economical and durable.

An integral one-piece metallic guiderail post comprising a contoured leg portion and vertically offset upper end portion onto which a guiderail can be selectively secured. The contoured upper end portion has a vertically oriented rail-mounting surface with an angularly inclined front surface extending therefrom. Elongated support flanges extend from the contoured leg and vertically offset portions in spaced parallel relation to one another. The vertical offset rail engagement portion partially overlies the leg portion effectively transferring vertical impact load on the vertical offset rail portion to the leg portion for ground mounting engagement.

A guardrail post block made from recycled plastic waste material. The block is of generally rectangular construction whose side faces have large radiused channels formed therealong and large transverse voids extending through the center of the block between the channels. The channels and voids substantially reduce the weight of the block while maintaining required strength.
