A billing system for a service provider-client environment, which includes a service provider suite, a first CPU disposed at the service provider site having billing software resident on the first CPU for enabling logging of client data and service provider data. The billing software prompts a service provider to select one of a logging and no logging of time for one of a matter and a call can accrue an amount of time and associate the time with a client upon selection of the logging. The billing software manipulates the data corresponding to the amount of time and said client in a manner to produce a billing data file and accounts for crediting and debiting the billing data file. Additionally, billing software produces invoice indicia corresponding to billing data file. A printer is operably associated with said first CPU for printing an invoice having the corresponding billing data file and indicia thereon. A scanner is operably associated with said first CPU for scanning the indicia from the invoice to enable the billing software to apply a credit to the billing data file.
A system for delivering an ordered item to a location where no one is available to receive the item, including a key locked storage box provided at the location in addition to a key receptacle at the location having a lock openable with a settable code. When delivery of an item is ordered, a code is assigned, and the code is printed on a label affixed to the item, a peel off security strip overlaid onto the assigned code imprint. The delivery person removes the strip when at the location and enters the code into the key receptacle lock to obtain the key necessary to open the box and place the item therein. A bar code strip in the box provides location data when scanned to enable verification of a successful delivery.
Peripheral devices, systems for providing job operations for a plurality of host devices, and peripheral device monitoring methods are described. According to one embodiment, a peripheral device monitoring method includes interfacing a plurality of different host devices with a peripheral device at a plurality of different moments in time, receiving, by the peripheral device, a plurality of job requests from the host devices, receiving, by the peripheral device, a plurality of identifiers from the host devices, performing, by the peripheral device, a plurality of job operations in response to the job requests, and communicating, by the peripheral device, a plurality of messages regarding the job operations and the identifiers to a monitoring device.
Techniques and systems for routing and information collection for telephone calls are described. Upon initiation of a revenue generating call, a data management module creates a call interaction record, including a unique call identifier and information generated by an exchange originating the call. Call accounting information such as user identification and billing account information are collected from the user by presenting audible queries from the user and receiving voice responses. The voice responses are matched to stored information, which is stored in the call interaction record. If a voice response does not unambiguously identify the requested information, further queries may be presented to elicit more refined responses or request responses for recording and later playback. Routing information is then collected, again through audible queries and voice responses, and stored. Upon completion of the call, the call interaction record is closed and stored for later retrieval and analysis.
A method and apparatus for a Web-enabled transaction and collaborative management application are described. In one embodiment, the application is centered around a user-friendly home navigation page designed to facilitate convenience for the user in accessing information or entering and tracking data. All information is sorted by project or matter name. A client user may view information one matter at a time, all matters at once, or any user-specified number of matters. Access is restricted to authorized users with password access rights. The application enables the tracking of information that is beneficial to all levels of the user's organization, that is substantive and relevant to different levels of the user's staff, and that aids the client in making informed decisions regarding its current transactions and documents relating thereto.
