A local loop access network providing high-speed access at a committed data delivery rate and natural language processing of spoken directory assistance queries. A user's spoken natural language query is processed and a directory assistance database is searched at the network server platform based on the contents of the query. Search results are provided to the user either through an audio interface or as text on a screen. The user is provided with the option of obtaining more information about certain listings and may select a listing to be automatically dialed. Search results are prioritized based on any listings previously selected to be automatically dialed and based on the geographical proximity between the establishments in the results list and the address from which the directory assistance query was initiated.
When a user's request is entered it is then transmitted to a network interface unit which digitizes and stores the request. The digitized request and information about the user's network of devices is then transmitted from the network interface unit to a natural language server, preferably over the internet. The natural language server then processes the request and generates commands necessary to complete the request within the user's network of devices. These commands are then transmitted from the natural language server to the network interface unit. The network interface unit then transmits the commands to the appropriate devices within the network of devices. The devices within the network of devices then execute the received commands to complete the user's request.
The present invention provides a method for redirecting a calling phone from a finder service to a destination phone. A communication system receives a request to generate a set of destination names at the finder service from the calling phone. If the calling phone is capable of processing IP data, the communication system sends a text-based menu interface including the set of destination names to the calling phone. The calling phone may send a menu response indicating one of the set of destination names to the communication system. The communication system receives the menu response from the calling phone and redirects the calling phone to the destination name.
A method for providing information placed in the specific location after analyzing the locations of the information is disclosed. Web search function to search information placed in the specific location comprises the steps of inputting the keywords and the locations of the desired information on the web browser by the web searcher, searching the indexes according to the keywords and the locations by the web search server, finding the URLs (Uniform Resource Locator) of the searched indexes by the web search server, comparing the URLs with the inputted locations, and transmitting the compared results to the web searcher. The present invention reduces the amount of the transmitting data, transmitting time, the amount of the data to be stored in the computer of the web searcher, and prevents the web searcher from sorting the searched pages case by case.
An Internet-based directory information system for providing toll free telephone numbers and other company information based on product or service advertising. First and second web sites are configured with separate first and second graphic user interfaces for the entering of company information and search request information, respectively. A database correlates entered company information (including toll free telephone number) to advertising information, compares the company-provided advertising information to a search request-provided advertising information, and formulates a search result based on matches between the search request and the company-provided advertising information.
