The present invention relates to a method and arrangement in a telecommunication system for transferring of loading data (i.e., software) from a first telestation to at least one selected memory unit in a second telestation. The data is transferred on channels in a transmission link between the two stations. The channels are normally assigned traffic related information and speech related information. However, such traffic is temporarily halted in a channel that is used to send the loading data. This enables data to be quickly loaded into a selected memory unit of the telestation without causing conflict with data being sent on other channels through the link.
The invention relates to a wireless communication system for speech and packet data communication wherein deployment, control and maintenance of packet data functions becomes simpler and less costly. The wireless communication system (111) comprises one or more mobile switching centres (113) having group switches (115). Radio base stations (127) having transceivers programmed with software for handling packet data operation are connected to the mobile switching centre(s) (113). The wireless communication system (111) comprises also a packet data backbone (117), which is connected to the group switch(es) (115) of the mobile switching centre(s) (113). One or more centralised mobile data devices (131) are connected to the group switch(es) (115) of the mobile switching centre(s) (113). The centralised mobile data device(s) (131) is/are arranged for controlling packet data functions of radio base stations (127) having transceivers with packet data software via the group switch(es) (115) of the mobile switching centre(s) (113).
