This invention is a novel treatment for sexual dysfunctions by administering to a subject exhibiting a sexual dysfunction compounds that upmodulate the AMPA receptor. Methods and compositions for treating sexual dysfunction are provided. Kits containing the compositions in appropriate form for administration are also provided.
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
The present application is a continuation-in-part of U.S. provisional application Ser. No. 60/010,778, filed on Jan. 29, 1996, and U.S. provisional application Ser. No. 60/026,951, filed on Sep. 17, 1996, which are both incorporated by reference.
Compounds of formula (I) ##STR00001## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, n, and m, are as defined herein, or an enantiomer or diastereomer thereof, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof, processes for preparing these compounds, and their use in pharmaceutical compositions.
The present invention relates to the use of compounds of formula (I) ##STR00001## for the treatment of sexual dysfunction and to compositions containing compounds of formula (I) for the treatment of sexual dysfunction.
The invention provides novel compounds represented by general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein the bond represented by the broken line may be a single, double bond or absent; and if the bond is absent, then the nitrogen is substituted with a hydrogen and R.sup.2 ; X represents SO.sub.2 or C.dbd.O of CH.sub.2 ; Y represents --CH(R.sup.4)--, --N(R.sup.4)--CH.sub.2 --, O; and the meaning of R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, and R.sup.8 are as defined in the application. The compounds are useful as positive modulators of the AMPA-receptor.
