A global information network forms completion data processing system uses data stored in a database to automatically fill out data fields of the various and multiple forms displayed on the WEB browsers of users who are engaged in commerce, dealing with governmental agencies, or otherwise attempting to complete transactions over the global information network. The data processing system retrieves tagged information previously entered and stored in a database, and automatically inserts the data in similarly tagged uncompleted fields of any number and variety of forms. The fully completed forms are then transmitted to the parties requesting the information and are stored for later retrieval, updating and printing by the user.
A system and method is provided for populating a plurality of fields appearing on a form such as an HTML-based form rendered on a browser. When a user first populates a form and submits it for processing, a web browser employing the inventive principles determines whether the user has completed a profile containing commonly used fields (e.g., name, address, phone number and the like). If no profile has been completed, data values from the form populated by the user are extracted, matched to the commonly used fields, and used to populate the profile, which is stored for future use. The user is also invited to supply missing data values for other fields contained in the profile. Thereafter, when the user displays the same or a different form, the user is given the option to automatically populate the form using values stored in the profile.
A method for generating pre-populated forms with stored data. A user identity and a customer identity are obtained where the user identity and customer identity identify a user and a customer, respectively. The identified user is verified as being authorized to access information related to the identified customer. If the identified user is verified, a form type identifier is obtained that identifies one of one or more types of forms, each of which has one or more input fields for receiving information. Then, a populated form of the type matching the form type identifier is generated with at least some of the input fields of the generated form being populated with data related to the identified customer. Finally, the generated form is transmitted as a byte stream to a user interface device where the byte stream is used to recreate the generated form.
A method and apparatus for populating a form with data is described. In one embodiment of the invention, a form is displayed to the user via the target application. Each form has one or more data receptacles. The data receptacles of a form are filled with data when the user executes a data population command. The form completion program executes the data population command when a graphical representation of a particular data set is placed over the form. Each data set is stored in an encrypted manner and is accessible to users who enter the appropriate information into an authentication mechanism. To populate a form with data the form completion program obtains an image of the form and then searches for a template file that resembles the form image to within a certain threshold. The template files are typically stored on the computer hosting the target application in a template directory that is arranged according to a predefined structure. The form completion program is configured to search for templates that resemble the form image in the template directory to within a certain threshold.
An integrated web based system for generating electronic request for proposal (RFP) forms and responding to the generated RFPs over a secure communications network. Using a web site interface, the present invention enables users to request specific information for goods and services from specific vendors, automates the process of responding to the RFPs, and automates the process of reviewing, analyzing and presenting the results. Potential vendors are notified via e-mail when the RFP is completed, and have the option to respond to the RFP by using information stored in the associated online databases or by providing new information that is then stored in the online databases. The system remembers links from questions to all appropriate responses and prompts vendors to add them to their response form. Analysis on completed forms is automated and enables the users to evaluate RFPs.
