A method of overlaying by a laser beam, comprises the steps of: relatively moving and irradiating a laser beam with respect to a base metal and simultaneously putting an other metal material than the base metal material on the base metal surface; and forming an overlay layer by melting the other metal material, wherein the overlay operation is performed in such a manner that an inclined angle .theta. with respect to the base metal surface of the beginning end portion surface becomes a range of 8.degree.<.theta.<27.degree..
The present invention includes a light metal cylinder block comprising a cylinder running face which is coated with silicon. The invention also includes a method by which the silicon is applied to the running face comprising melting powdered metal silicon, which is fired at the face in a powdered metal beam, under heat of a laser which is fired at the running face at the point of impact of the powdered beam. Furthermore, the invention includes a device with which the cylinder block may be manufactured.
A system for communicating with the user of a cellular telephone via the cellular mobile radio (CMR) system and the public switched telephone network (PSTN). A communications interface appends the telephone exchange number of an outgoing communication to include an identifier unique to the communications interface. The outgoing communication is transmitted by the cellular telephone to the CMR system, which recognizes and verifies the outgoing communication originating with the communications interface. Accordingly, the origination of the outgoing communication from a communications interface is documented prior to forwarding the outgoing communication to its intended recipient via the PSTN. Communications incoming to a communications interface are authenticated as such, and a record as the this is created, prior to forwarding the incoming communication to the cellular telephone.
The present invention discloses in one embodiment a mobile telephone capable of communicating with a home base station through radio signals. The mobile telephone registers with a home base station before beginning to communicate with the home base station. The home base station is capable of sensing the presence of the mobile telephone in its coverage area and subsequently establishing contact with the mobile telephone, if the mobile telephone is registered with the home base station. The home base station can support a plurality of telephone devices, including corded and cordless telephone devices, and provides call placement and answering services to these telephone devices if there is a registered mobile telephone within its coverage area.
A system and method for interfacing plain old telephone system (PATS) devices with a cellular network is presented. In a broad sense, the system includes an interface that bridges the POTS devices with the cellular network. The interface is configured to convert POTS compatible signals into cellular network compatible signals, and vice versa.
