A disc cartridge of the open cover type capable of readily accomplishing takeout and insertion of a disc medium with respect to the cartridge while ensuring easiness of assembling thereof and increased reliability in operation thereof. An upper casing member is formed on a side surface thereof opposite from a shutter with a takeout opening which permits a disc medium to be taken out of a casing therethrough. The casing is mounted thereon with a cover for opening and closing the takeout opening. The cover is provided with support shafts disposed on opposite sides thereof. The upper casing member is provided with guide grooves in which the respective support shafts are slidably and pivotally fitted, to thereby permit the cover to be selectively opened. The cover may be provided with a receiving section for slidably receiving an erasure prevention member therein. The disc cartridge may be provided with a discrimination member for detecting whether takeout of the disc medium has been carried out.
A disc cartridge that can provide various driving modes for a disc received within the cartridge and allows a user to select the driving modes efficiently. A disc recording/reproducing method and apparatus employing the disc cartridge is disclosed. In the disc cartridge, a recording prohibition mode, a verification preceding recording mode and a direct recording mode are used. A mode selector can select each mode. The disc cartridge can provide various driving modes at a user's request and permits a user to select the driving modes efficiently by a single selector.
A disc cartridge includes a cartridge body, a first shutter, a second shutter, and a rotational member. The cartridge body includes a disc storage portion, a chucking opening and a head opening. The disc storage portion has a disc window and a bottom and stores a disc, having first and second sides, therein so that the disc is rotatable in the disc storage portion and that the disc exposes the first side inside the disc window. The first and second shutters are provided on the bottom of the disc storage portion to expose or cover the head opening. The rotational member is provided over the first and second shutters inside the disc storage portion and is engaged with the first and second shutters in such a manner as to open or close the first and second shutters when rotates inside the disc storage portion.
A disk cartridge incorporating a disk-shaped recording medium. A disk holder is arranged at the disk cartridge and is constituted by a structure capable of detaching from a disk cartridge main body. The disk holder holds information in respect of the disk-shaped recording medium and the disk cartridge main body includes an information holding portion holding the information in respect of the disk-shaped recording medium. Positions of an information holding portion holding the information of the disk-shaped recording medium of the disk holder and the information holding portion of the disk cartridge main body differ from each other when the disk holder is attached to the disk cartridge main body. The disk cartridge main body includes a transmitter for transmitting the information held by the disk holder to the information holding portion of the disk cartridge main body.
A cartridge consists of a case and a disk housed therein. The case has a case body in which a head access window and a drive spindle access window are formed. The case has a shutter to open and close the head access window and the drive spindle access window. The case body has in its rear side an opening through which the disk is taken out of and put into the case body. The opening is fitted with a lid that can be taken out of and put into the opening in the direction in which the disk is taken out of and put into the case body. One of the halves constituting the case body has a stopper removal hole, a stopper rest linked to the inner surface of the hole through thin bridges and formed seamlessly therewith, and a stopper whose one end is fixed on the inner surface of the stopper rest and which stops the lid from sliding.
