A portable air temperature controlling device useful for warming air surrounding an aerosolized drug formulation is described. Warming the air of an aerosol makes it possible to reduce the size of aerosol particles produced by an aerosol generation device. Additionally, warming the air forces the size of the aerosol particles to be in the range required for systemic drug delivery independent of ambient conditions. Smaller particles can be more precisely targeted to different areas of the respiratory tract.
The invention relates to an inhalation therapy apparatus comprising an aerosol generating device (1, 6, 7) for atomizing a liquid (3), a connecting device (8, 9) for supplying a control signal, and a control device (10) from which a control signal of the connecting device can be supplied to the aerosol generating device whereby causing the aerosol generating device to atomize the liquid. To this end, an output signal, which is elicited by the breathing of the patient on the connecting device (8, 9) of the aerosol generating device (1, 6, 7) is supplied to the control device (10) for controlling the inhalation therapy apparatus.
Stable aqueous formulations which are free of products derived from human or animal origin and which maintain high biological activity and high chemical and physical stability of alpha-type interferon for an extended period of time. Methods of producing stable aerosol formulations of the same for delivery to the lungs are also provided, as well as systems and methods of delivering the formulations to the lungs for systemic absorption.
An inhaler provides a controlled delivery of an inhalant and includes an inhaler housing and a mouthpiece coupled to the inhaler housing. A piezoelectric dispenser-head is coupled to the inhaler housing and configured to be coupled to the dispensing chamber. The piezoelectric dispenser-head includes an array of dispensing channels and an array of dispensing nozzles. The array of dispensing channels are formed with actuatable walls made at least partially of a piezoelectric material. Application of an electric field to selected side walls reduces a volume in an associated channel and creates a pressure pulse of flowable substance in the associated channel through a dispensing nozzle.
