Abstract
An apparatus for converting the energy of the ocean's surf into electricity, which comprises a buoyant body that floats on the surface of the water and rises and falls with the waves, at a fixed and predetermined distance from the shore. Fixed securely to the buoyant body, is a horizontally extending shaft, in such a manner that it bears a constant height above the water's surface, regardless of water amplitude variation, and/or height of tide. Connected to the shaft are blades which are rotably mounted. Said blades will intercept the ocean at a point where the surf breaks, and shall receive the energy produced from the breaking wave. Said energy shall be converted into mechanical energy by driving the blades in motion, which in turn rotates the shaft. An electric power generator is drivingly connected to the shaft, whereby producing electricity.

6551053 - Hydro-electric generator

A hydro-electric generator for producing electricity in areas of flowing water. The hydro-electric generator includes a flotation device. An electric generator is mounted on the floatation device. A paddle wheel is rotatably mounted to the floatation device. The paddle wheel is mechanically coupled to the electric generator. The floatation device is anchored in an area of flowing water such that a current rotates the paddle wheel and electricity is produced.

7042112 - Wave energy conversion system - Owned by Seawood Designs Inc. (Kincardine,CA)

An omni-directional system configured to convert the kinetic and potential energy in ocean waves to electrical energy or in some special cases to other forms of energy such as heat, mechanical and pressure energy. The system employs a float moored by a single hydraulic cylinder anchored to the seabed. Wave energy is captured as the float is displaced vertically and horizontally in response to wave action extending the hydraulic cylinder that in turn forces fluid under high pressure to the float where appropriate valves, hydraulic accumulators, and variable displacement hydraulic motors are arranged to drive electric generators. A secondary benefit of the system is the reduction of near shore erosion.

6439854 - Method and pump for impelling water in waters - Owned by Waveplane International A/S (Gentofte,DK)

A method for impelling water in e.g. a lake by with a pump transforming the waves of the lake into whirling water which is sent down towards the bottom of the water area. The pump comprises a horizontally extending whirl pipe with a longitudinal slot and at least one preferably curvedly extending baffle with a top front edge mainly facing a wave front in the lake in operation and a bottom rear edge extending along the slot. Both ends of the whirl pipe are fluid-connected to a submersible pipe extending down towards the bottom of the water area. The pump is simple and reliable as it functions without movable parts. The pump can without costs for external energy take surface water high in oxygen and atmospheric air down to enrich "dead" bottom water low in oxygen. At the same time the pump can advantageously be used for removing undesired constituents such as superfluous biomass from the lake and add desired additives such as lime to this.

7365445 - Apparatus for converting ocean wave energy to electrical energy

A wave motion generator having a bore hole at a coastline of an ocean. The bore hole lower end communicates with the ocean underwater while the upper end is above water level, allowing wave motion within the bore hole. A float disposed within the bore hole may travel along the borehole between at least two positions. A linkage attached to the float converts the motion of the float to rotary motion of a generator shaft so as to induce electric current in the generator. The linkage may be pneumatic, in which the float motion induces pressurized air to drive a turbine, or it may be a chain drive, a shaft drive, etc.

7564143 - Staging of tidal power reserves to deliver constant electrical generation

Oceanic tidal energy sources hydroelectric generating system coupled to a primary tidal basin through a bi-directional tideway exciting a turbine as a diurnal cycle tide waxes and wanes. A secondary tidal basin includes a tideway and turbine with flow modulated by a regulator gate to proportionately blend reserve tidewater capacity of the secondary tidal basin as a delayed resource compensating a slacking of the primary tidal flow with a graduated secondary tidal basin influx or outflow providing an aggregate summation of tidal energy acting upon the turbines to continuously drive generators and deliver a constant flow of electric power throughout the diurnal tidal cycle. Shunting excess tidal energy around the turbines during periods of reduced electric power demand furthers a full capacity of tidal resources in subsequent phases of the diurnal tidal day when solar day related power demand may increase.
