A beam for grid in a suspended ceiling that has an increased effective beam height over prior art beams. The beam has a peak at the top, which conforms to the shape of a standard light fixture box frame supported by the beam in the ceiling. The beam does not interfere with the proper support of the fixture frame on the beam flanges.
A roof beam for constructing a conservatory roof comprises a glazing bar (10) and upper and lower capping (12, 14/50) thereon. The glazing bar has a cross bar (16) having trough formations (26) at each end, whereby there is a recess under the cross bar. The cross bar can, therefore, accommodate both a lower capping (14) for a transom roof beam and a lower capping (50) for a hipped conservatory roof end.
A system for installing suspended ceilings in large commercial buildings employing t-shaped main and intersecting branch ceiling joists. The main joists are suspended from the purlins of the building by upper brackets that secure to the purlins and by lower brackets that secure to the joists. Rods that are adjustable in length attach the upper brackets to the lower brackets to thereby suspend the joists below the purlins. To install the joists, the rods are adjusted in length so that all the joists are level and are suspended at the desired height within the building. The main joists are spaced approximately 8 feet apart from each other, and the branch joists are spaced approximately 4 feet apart from each and attach to the main joists at right angles so as to form a plurality of frames for supporting 4.times.8 foot sheets of insulated ceiling board.
A grid system for torsion spring mounting of aluminum-framed panels is provided which includes a plurality of main grid beams and spacer bars. The main grid beams support a side load mounting clip formed with a slot in the side of the side load mounting clip to engage a torsion spring held by a spring retainer clip such that the panel is supported by the torsion spring. Disengagement of the torsion springs lowers the panels and permits access to the ceiling grid system above the panel members. In a preferred embodiment, the panel has a multifaceted profile including an edge surface that abuts a corresponding edge surface on an adjacent panel. The peripheral edges of the adjacent panel members diverge above the abutting edge surfaces to accommodate either the alignment fin or the tab of the tile stop and diverge below the abutting edge surfaces to form a reveal.
The invention relates to a right-angle connection in the grid of a suspended ceiling, between inverted T-beams having a vertical web extending between a bulb at the top and flanges at the bottom. A connector on the end of a cross beam hooks into a slot in the web of a main beam. The connector has a plastic encasement that forms abutments about a metallic core. The abutments position the connector within the slot in the web, and prevent further entry of the connector into the slot, under normal conditions. The plastic abutments melt away during a fire, so that the beam can expand longitudinally into the slot to relieve stresses in the beam, without the beam buckling. Ridges on the bottom of the metallic core that engage the web at the bottom of the slot, prevent pullback of the connector from the slot, during a fire, to prevent the ceiling from sagging or drooping.
A profiled rail for supporting plate-shaped elements, particularly for inlay mounting of ceiling plates for louvered ceilings includes a base body, having a T-profile in select areas, a longitudinally extended web and a lower flange. The lower flange runs along a longitudinal edge of the web and comprises two lower flange sections each extending from the web essentially in opposite directions. The lower flange is formed by bending the web. The side of the lower flange, which is oriented away from the web, is provided with a facing board. A multitude of openings are provided in the web, whereby at least one of the lower flange sections is formed by material sections of the web that are folded out from the openings. The web is provided as a single layer essentially over its entire surface. A method for producing a profiled rail of this type is also provided.
