An exercise device for use in exercising and strengthening abdominal and lower back muscles. The device is easily utilized, may be readily disassembled, and is easily portable. The device utilizes individual upright resilient bars of varying degrees of resistance which may be interchangeably affixed to a seat portion of the device. The upper portion of the resilient bar feature, which may be bowed in one direction, has an attached padded upper body support on one side and a harness element on the other. The user may sit on the seat element and exert backward pressure against the upper back support to exercise lumber (extensor) paraspinal muscles of the lower back, or the user may sit on the seat element gripping a handlebar assembly affixed to the upper end of the resilient bar and bend forwardly exerting pressure away from the bar to exercise the abdominal muscles. A padded lower back support is provided to assist in properly positioning the user on the device.
STATUS OF APPLICATION
This is a continuation-in-part from application Ser. No. 08/623,136, originally filed Mar. 28, 1996, now U.S. Pat. No. 5,730,688.
An exercise device for specific isolation and development of abdominal, pelvic, shoulder, forearm and buttock muscle groups comprises a deformable spring-resistance which is closely retained against the user's lower abdominal and upper leg region. When the device is used in a horizontal position the user kneels on the frame and grasps the frame with the hands and performs a pelvic thrusting motion against the resistance means by use of the above-stated muscle groups.
A flexible stick of a bow exercise device includes a base and a top cap, and a first and second flexible plates are connected between the base and the top cap. Two ends of the first flexible plate are respectively connected to the base and the top cap. A first end of the second flexible plate is connected to the base and a second end of the second flexible plate is movably inserted in a slot defined in the top cap. A gap is defined between the first and second flexible plates when the stick is not bent. The top cap can be removed from the two flexible plates and the second flexible plate can be replaced with another one with different flexibility.
A swingable exercising device has a base flatly arranged on the ground and a support rod extending from the base. A chair is placed atop the supporting rod. A swingable means is formed by a main arm, an auxiliary arm, a handle, and at least one bearing. The main arm having a first connecting portion exactly covers the supporting rod. The second connecting portion of the main arm is extended from an upper side of the first connecting portion. One end of the auxiliary arm is engaged with the second connecting portion. The handle is engaged to another end of the auxiliary arm. The handle has a C shape and two ends of the handle have respective handle rods. When a force is applied to the swingable means, the swingable means will shift to one side so that one seat on the chair can swing with the swingable means.
A method and structure for exercising with a portable exercise apparatus. The portable exercise apparatus comprises a body support structure and at least one exercising structure. The a body support structure comprises a sitting structure pivotally attached to a back support structure. The back support structure may be positioned at a plurality of angular positions with respect to the sitting structure. The body support structure is adapted to be placed on a supporting structure. The at least one exercising structure is removably attached to the body support structure. The at least one exercising structure comprises a first resilient structure movably attached to a second resilient structure, a first attachment device, and a resistance means for applying a preset amount of resistance against movement of the first resilient structure with respect to the second resilient structure. The attachment device is adapted to removably attach the second resilient structure to the body support structure. The portable exercise apparatus is portable with respect to the supporting structure.
A restraint and exercise device is provided to treat acute or chronic mechanical pain, particularly lumbopelvic and/or leg pain, and to restore and/or increase range of motion in suitable users. The device is particularly useful during exercise. The device may contain a restraint, such as two straps, connected to a support structure. The straps help restrain a portion of a person's body such as the pelvic region. The portion of the person's body may be restrained in a substantially pain-free position so as to reduce the pain that would otherwise be felt during exercise.
