The present invention is a sunscreen composition that protects the scalp and hair from the sun's rays. The composition contains at least one sunscreen agent in combination with a cinnamido alkyl amine cationic quaternary salt. In addition, a method for protecting the scalp and hair by applying an effective amount of the composition is provided.
Topically applicable cosmetic/dermatological compositions well suited for both effective and SPF-enhanced UV-photoprotection of human skin, hair and/or scalp, most preferably packaged as spray delivery systems, contain (a) an effective UV-photoprotecting amount of at least one UV-A and/or UV-B sunscreen, most notably the sunscreen avobenzone, and (b) an amount of the interpolymer PVP/dimethiconylacrylate/polycarbamyl/polyglycol ester effective to statistically significantly enhance the SPF value of said at least one UV-A and/or UV-B or avobenzone sunscreen, formulated into (c) a topically applicable, cosmetically/dermatologically acceptable vehicle, diluent or carrier therefor; the subject compositions optionally contain a thus-effective amount of an artificial/sunless tanning agent.
The present invention is a sunscreen composition that can interchangeably be used as a lotion or as a spray, without any change to the composition. The composition contains a sunscreen agent, a rheological additive, a pH adjuster, and water. Optionally, the sunscreen composition may include an emulsifier, an emollient, a moistening agent, a waterproofing agent, and a preservative.
There are disclosed non-foaming cleaning compositions, and non-foaming cleaning and conditioning compositions for the hair. The compositions have at least one non-ionic surfactant and, optionally, at least one conditioning ingredient. Preferably, the compositions have a cosmetically acceptable vehicle. There are also disclosed methods for cleaning hair, cleaning and conditioning hair, and protecting color-treated hair that include topically applying the compositions of the present invention.
The present invention relates to oligoesters and their use or the creation of additives. Oligoester containing additives and/or oligoesters themselves may be used for formulating pharmaceutical preparations, cosmetics or personal care products such as shampoos and conditioners. These oligoesters are particularly useful for the creation of multi-purpose additives that can impart conditioning, long substantivity and/or UV protection. Individual oligoesters and oligoester mixtures are described.
An improved composition and method for protecting both natural and artificial hair color from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation is provided. The composition includes melanin, an ultraviolet absorber, and a cationic surfactant. The composition may also include other ingredients such as additional cationic surfactants, hair conditioning agents, dispersing agents, rheology modifiers, emulsifiers, antioxidants, film formers, and water. A method of protecting hair color from ultraviolet radiation includes applying the composition to natural or artificial hair.
