A system is provided for converting mechanical motion of vehicles into electrical energy. The system includes a plurality of motion converter assemblies each including a rod which remains in communication with a vertical motion delivery mechanism via a gearing mechanism for rotating the rod in response to traffic flowing thereover. Also included is a plurality of pumps each connected to the rotating rod for generating pressurized fluid in response thereto. A fluid turbine is provided for generating electrical energy upon the receipt of the pressurized fluid.
Described herein is a fluid device for the recovery of the kinetic energy of land vehicles, comprising an intake line, a delivery line, and a pumping unit, which is connected to the intake line and to the delivery line, and at least one actuating element set along a street or railroad course of an infrastructure for the transit of vehicles, functionally connected to the pumping unit and mobile between a position of unloading and a position of loading, in which the actuating element is designed to be surmounted by a vehicle travelling along the street or railroad infrastructure.
A system for extracting energy from the passing wheels of a railcar, converting the energy to into rotation of a shaft in first and second directions, converting the rotation of the shaft into electrical energy, and storing any excess generated electricity. A pivoting member includes a shaft, first and second arms extending from the shaft, and contact elements at the ends of the arms. The vertical reaction force imparted to the wheels of a passing railcar may be minimized by, among other techniques, orienting the pivoting member so that the contact elements move in a horizontal plane and by coupling the contact elements to the ends of the pivoting member arms via respective journal bearings.
A system and method for electrical power generation utilizing vehicle traffic on roadways is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a power generation system comprises one or more standard hydraulic cylinders, one or more electro-mechanical generators, and one or more hydraulic accumulators coupled to a hydraulic motor.
A human power generation system includes a generation module and a generator. The generation module includes two speed-up great sets and a rack. Each speed-up gear set includes a shaft to which a pinion and a gear are coaxially mounted. The pinion of the first gear set engages the rack. The gear of the first gear set engages the pinion of the second gear set. The gear of the second gear set is drivingly coupled to the generator. Thus, by attaching the system to a wearer by a mounting device, the systems continuously operates by the natural activity of the wearer and the rack drives, through the gear sets, the generator to generate electrical power.
