A projection-type display apparatus in accordance with the invention reduces the margin formed around the image forming range of the light valves, and forms a bright projected image. Emitted light from a light source lamp unit of a projection-type display apparatus illuminates liquid crystal light valves of each color via an integrator optical system. First and second lens plates of an integrator optical system that serves as a uniform illuminating optical system are disposed such that the attachment position thereof is capable of fine adjustment in a direction vertical to the optical axis. By performing fine adjustment of the attachment position of these, the forming position of the illumination range B can be adjusted to include the image forming range A of the liquid crystal light valves. Accordingly, there is no need to provide a wide margin around the image forming range A, taking shifting of the forming position of the illumination range B into consideration. Thus, efficient usage of the illumination light can be increased, thereby improving the brightness of the projected image.

Adjustment of the illumination range to a liquid crystal panel of a liquid crystal projector requires time in fixing upon adjustment and accordingly it is an object to make the adjustment effectively. In an adjustment mechanism of the illumination range of illumination means to the liquid crystal panel in an optical engine unit of the liquid projector, the spring property is provided in a lens holder for holding a lens and the lens is temporarily held by friction of the spring portion to the optical engine case after adjustment. Then, the adhesion processing is made to complete the adjustment.
Disclosed is an apparatus to adjust position of a mirror in projector. The mirror position adjusting apparatus includes a mirror, a mirror plate on which the mirror is seated, and a mirror mounting part located in the inside of the projector for adjusting the position of the mirror plate. The mirror position adjusting apparatus according to the present invention can adjust change in position of the mirror occurred due to transformation of plastic by a structure of the projector, which generates intense heat, thereby improving quality of image formed on a screen.
The present invention relates to an optical engine of a projection television in which a path of illumination emitted from a light source is aligned to correspond with the image producer by turning a screw of a mirror device. The object of the present invention can be achieved by an optical engine of a projection television including a light generator, a mirror device for reflecting illumination emitted from the light generator thereby changing a path of the illumination, in which a reflection angle of the illumination can be adjusted, and a projection apparatus for enlarging and projecting the image produced in the image producer on the screen by reflecting the image to an incident illumination from the mirror device, wherein the path of the illumination is aligned to correspond to the whole image produced in the image producer to be projected on the screen by adjusting the mirror device.
Providing a fixing structure for parts of optical element by which fixing of parts of optical element with high accuracy can be achieved after positional adjustment in axes with an arrangement the positional adjustment in axes of parts of optical element is easily achieved before the fixing of the parts of optical element. The fixing structure comprises lens 3 having an edge surface which is a side surface surrounding a light beam passing surface; an intermediate holding member 5 having a first attaching surface 5a which is facing to the side surface and having a second attaching surface 5b which has a different angle from said first attaching surface 5a; and a housing 2 having an attaching surface 2c which is facing to the second attaching surface 5b; the housing 2 and the lens 3 which has been adjusted the positional relation to the housing 2 are adhered and fixed through the intermediate holding member 5.
A hollow sphere with a scattering (e.g., white diffusive) interior surface directs light input from at least one input light source to an exit. In one embodiment, an internal hot mirror and phosphor are positioned to intercept the input light on which visible light is reflected and ultraviolet light is directed to the phosphor for conversion to visible light. The exit has a reflective polarizer that passes light of a selected polarization to an output. Light of other polarization(s) is reflected back into the sphere where it becomes unpolarized because of reflections and may eventually be returned to the exit at the selected polarization.
