A container erecting apparatus and methods are provided which advantageously increase the efficiency and production speed of erecting and sealing containers. The apparatus preferably includes a dispenser positioned to dispense one of a plurality of collapsed containers to be transported along a first predetermined path of travel and collapsed container erecting means positioned downstream from the dispenser for erecting the collapsed container. The apparatus also includes a first bottom panel folder and a container advancer positioned downstream from the container erecting means along the first predetermined path of travel. A second panel folder is positioned downstream and on a second predetermined path of travel which is transverse to the first predetermined path of travel. The apparatus also includes a container conveyor which is positioned along the second predetermined path of travel on which the apparatus has a third panel folder, an adhesive applicator for applying adhesive to selected portions of the folded panels, and a container compressor positioned downstream from the adhesive applicator along the second predetermined path of travel for compressing and sealing the bottom panels in a closed position.
A device for unfolding of folded boxes, comprising a magazine for receiving of flat folded-box sleeves, a removing device for the individual removal of the folded-box sleeves from the magazine and for feeding the folded-box sleeves to an unfolding station where the folded-box sleeves are partially unfolded along a compressing section. The unfolding device has after the compressing section a chute for the precisely fitting receipt of the partially unfolded folded-box sleeves, an output device to remove the folded-box sleeves from the chute, and an expansion chamber following the chute for receiving the fully unfolded folded-box sleeves in order to achieve a very high unfolding rate.
An apparatus automatically forms a paperboard blank into a container having a double glued side wall construction for providing an enhanced strength to the container. A platen drives the blank through mechanically powered forming rails for an initial folding of the blank into a partially formed container having a bottom, end and side walls, and inside corner supports. A compression plate and folding arms are biased against adhesive portions of the partially formed container for forming a fully formed container having a double glued side wall construction.
A paper board blank is formed into a tray having a double glued side wall construction for providing a desirable strength to the tray. A platen drives the blank through forming rails which fold the blank into a partially formed tray having bottom, end and side walls, and inside corner supports formed about the platen. After the platen is retracted, a first folding arm folds a top wall portion to a position generally parallel to the bottom panel. A second folding arm then folds end fold portions of outside corner supports into a passage formed between a compression plate and a fixed guide plate, wherein the fixed guide plate provides a guiding surface. The compression plate is then biased against each of the side fold portions for compressing the side fold portions against the side panels to form the tray.
