A system and method for automated collection and analysis of patient information retrieved from a medical device adapted to be implanted in a patient for remote patient care is described. A set of collected measures is periodically received from the medical device adapted to be implanted over a communications link which is interfaced to a network server. The collected measures set includes individual measures which each relate to patient information recorded by the medical device adapted to be implanted for an individual patient. The collected measures set is stored into a patient care record for the individual patient within a database server organized to store one or more patient care records. Each patient care record includes a plurality of the collected measures sets. One or more of the collected measures sets in the patient care record for the individual patient is analyzed relative to one or more other collected measures sets stored in the database server to determine a patient status indicator.
A method and system for protecting user data during power failures on a network-computer-class data processing system is provided. The network-computer-class data processing system is integrated with a power supply having an early power fail warning signal to ensure that unsaved changes to user data files are saved before a complete power failure strikes the data processing system. As a user employs one or more applications to create or modify data files, a table of file changes is created for each user data file that is opened by the user. This table is kept in non-volatile media, preferably on the user's network computer but possibly on a server located on a network connected to the network computer if the network computer lacks non-volatile memory. The entire contents of the table are saved to non-volatile storage in the time interval between the early power fail warning signal going active and the power completely failing. The table of user data changes can then be applied to recreate the user's data after power is restored.
A communication system is provided which permits of communication between an deployed implantable medical device (IMD) and a large-scale powerful computer capable of manipulating complex nonlinear modeling of physiologic systems, and also capable of accounting for large amounts of historical data from a particular patient or a cohort group for improved modeling and predictive power, which may be expected to lead to improved patient outcomes. A deployed IMD may be polled by a routing instrument external to the host patient, and data may be received by wireless communication. This data may be transmitted to a central large-scale or other relatively powerful computer for processing according to an appropriate model. A treatment or instruction regimen, as well as appropriate firmware or software upgrades, may then be transmitted to the routing instrument for immediate or eventual loading into the IMD via wireless communication.
Cardiac devices and methods involve the detection of cardiac signals features in adjacent classification intervals. Portions of the cardiac signal features detected in adjacent classification intervals are associated and are used to classify the cardiac response to a pacing pulse. Associating the portions of the cardiac signal features may be based on expected signal morphology.
