Abstract
The invention relates to a method and equipment for controlling properties of paper, which method comprises modelling the effect of the flow of retention agent (F.sub.ra) both on the amount of filler in the white water and on the paper ash content (ASH), and the effect of the flow of filler (F.sub.fi) both on the paper ash content (ASH) and on the amount of filler in the white water. The fulfilled modelling is used to adjust the amount of filler in the white water and the paper ash content (ASH) by controlling simultaneously the flow of retention agent (F.sub.ra) and the flow of filler (F.sub.fi).

7435314 - Method for the production of a fibrous web - Owned by Voith Paper Patent GmbH (Heidenheim,DE)

In a method for the production of a fibrous web, especially a paper or cardboard web, an automatic ash control system and an automatic retention control system for the reduction or suppression of an interactive build-up of the two controls are linked via a model for the dependence between the filler addition and the retention agent consumption. A computer assisted quality control system is also cited.

7582189 - Method for optimizing production of paper or board - Owned by Metso Paper, Inc. (Helsinki,FI)

The invention relates to a method in the manufacture of a fiber-based web-like product for optimizing the operation of the process being used, in which method quality factors are defined for the product being manufactured control variables, which affect the state of the process, or quality factors of the finished product, are defined for at least part of the process. In addition, an operating model is created, which is used to depict the effect of each control variable on the quality factors, and a user interface is created, through which varying values for the control variables can be input to the operating model and the values of the quality factors can be depicted simultaneously, in such a way that the values of the control variables and the values of the quality factors can be viewed simultaneously.

6542852 - System and method for paper web time-to-break prediction - Owned by General Electric Company (Niskayuna, NY)

System and method for generating a time-to-break prediction for a paper web in a paper machine. This invention uses principal components analysis, neuro-fuzzy systems and trending analysis to form a model for predicting the time-to-break of the paper web from paper mill measurements of paper machine process variables. The model is used to isolate the root cause of the predicted web break.

6519534 - Paper web breakage prediction using bootstrap aggregation of classification and regression trees - Owned by General Electric Company (Niskayuna, NY)

System and method for predicting web breaks in a paper machine. Principal components analysis and an aggregated classification and regression tree (CART) model are used to predict web break sensitivity from measurements taken from a paper mill where the paper machine is located.

6522978 - Paper web breakage prediction using principal components analysis and classification and regression trees - Owned by General Electric Company (Niskayuna, NY)

A system and method for predicting web breaks in a paper machine. Principal components analysis (PCA) and classification and regression tree (CART) modeling are used to predict web break sensitivity from measurements taken from the paper mill. Also, the CART model is used to isolate the root cause of the predicted web break sensitivity.
