An invention is disclosed which comprises siloxane-based polyamides as gelling agents for cosmetic products, methods for making such agents, formulations thereof and cosmetic formulations therewith. These polyamides contain siloxane groups in the main chain and act to thicken compositions containing volatile and/or non-volatile silicone fluids. Cosmetic compositions may be made by adding at least one active ingredient such as an antiperspirant
Nylon compositions prepared by the melt mixing of a nylon thermoplastic resin and the siloxane based amide are disclosed. The modified nylons are useful in applications requiring nylons with increased hydrophobicity.
Pastes comprise (1) siloxane copolymers which contain at least two groups of the general formula --C(O)NR.sup.1-- in covalently bonded form on average per molecule, where R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical having 1 to 18 carbon atoms and (2) organic compound(s) with a melting point greater than 0.degree. C. which are dispersed in the siloxane copolymers (1) and contain at least one group which participates in the formation of hydrogen bridges with the --C(O)NR.sup.1 groups in (1). The pastes are useful for numerous purposes, for example as hydrophobicizing compositions.
Siloxane-based polyamide elastomers can be prepared by heating a reaction mixture containing an olefinic acid and an organic amine to form an organic amide, and reacting the organic amide with a hydride functional polyorganosiloxane in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst to form the siloxane-based polyamide elastomer. The hydride functional polyorganosiloxane contains at least one pendant hydrogen. The elastomers are useful additives in personal care products and can be applied to the hair, the skin, or the underarm. They can also be used to modify thermoplastic nylons, and for treating woven and non-woven textiles, such as air bags, carpeting, and apparel.
The invention relates to a physiologically acceptable composition, especially a cosmetic composition, comprising at least one volatile solvent and a liquid fatty phase comprising at least one structuring polymer, said structuring polymer (homopolymer or copolymer) having an average molecular weight of from 500 to 500,000 and comprising at least one moiety which comprises: at least one polyorganosiloxane group consisting of 1 to 1000 organosiloxane units in the chain of the moiety or in the form of graft and at least two groups capable of establishing hydrogen interactions, the polymer being solid at room temperature and soluble in the liquid fatty phase at a temperature of from 25 to 250.degree. C.
The present invention relates to improved sunscreen compositions, more preferably to improve sunscreen compositions containing at least one sunscreening agent (sunscreen) and a silicone-polyamide copolymer.
