Abstract
The invention provides a light source device of an easy maintenance, and a projector using the light source device. The light source device includes a light source lamp, a reflector, a lamp housing for covering substantially entirely almost the outer surface except for an opening plane of the reflector and a front glass for covering the opening plane of the reflector. The light source device is formed so as to be integrally exchangeable as a unit in the projector. Since the lamp housing covers almost the whole surface of the reflector, even if the light source lamp and the reflector burst, fragments thereof do not scatter to the inside of the projector, there is no need to remove the outer casing to clean the inside of the device, and maintenance of the projector can be facilitated.

7261459 - Light source device and projector - Owned by Seiko Epson Corporation (Tokyo,JP)

A light source device which can reliably prevent the displacement of its reflector and a projector including the light source device includes a housing. The housing of the light source device includes: a cover member attached to cover a reflecting portion of a reflector from its front side in a light beam launching direction. The housing also includes a housing body to cover the reflector from its rear side in the light beam launching direction. The cover member and reflector are secured by clip-shaped fixing members to pinch and hold the flange portion of the reflector and the abutting face of the cover member abutting against the flange portion. The fixing members are disposed between the slanted face portions of the housing body and the cover member, and pinched and held therebetween.

7111962 - Light source and projector - Owned by Seiko Epson Corporation (Tokyo,JP)

A light source that prevents broken pieces from dispersing to the outside without increasing the number of components while efficiently cooling a light-emitting tube is provided. The light source (10) has: a light-emitting tube (11) having a light-emitting portion (111) where light beam is emitted by electric discharge between electrodes and a sealing portion (112) provided on both sides of the light-emitting portion (111); a reflector (12) that reflects the light beam emitted by the light-emitting tube (11) forward after aligning in a predetermined direction; a cover (16) covering a light-irradiation opening of the reflector (12) and having an opening for irradiating the light beam reflected by the reflector (12), the cover having a heat-radiation fin (162) on the outside thereof and being made of a heat-conductive material to absorb the heat from the light-emitting tube (11), the absorbed heat being conducted to the heat-radiation fin (162); and a transparent member (14) that covers the opening of the cover (16).

6969175 - Lamp unit for image projector - Owned by Funai Electric Co., Ltd. (Daito,JP)

A lamp unit for an image projector comprises: a cable fixing portion comprising two posts and provided to stand inside a lamp box; and a cover plate mounted to contact upper ends of the posts and of the cable fixing portion. A cable for supplying electric power to a lamp body is inserted into the space between the posts, and wound around the posts. Thereby, even when a connector at an end of the cable is pulled, the cable is fixed and does not move, with the pulling force being not transferred to the lamp body. The cover plate mounted to contact the upper ends of the posts furthermore prevents the cable from slipping off the posts. Thus, with simple cable fixing structure, the lamp body can be prevented from slipping in position without increasing cost.

7086740 - Injection-molded vent screens - Owned by InFocus Corporation (Wilsonville, OR)

A projection device is provided, wherein the projection device includes a casing, a plurality of electronic components mounted within the casing, a vent in the casing disposed substantially adjacent to an electronic component, and an injection molded, electrically nonconductive vent screen having one or more mesh portions substantially bordered by a peripheral frame, wherein the vent screen is detachably coupled within the casing and secured against the vent.

6698899 - Light source and projector - Owned by Seiko Epson Corporation (Tokyo,JP)

A pair of openings (302) symmetrically disposed around an optical axis of the reflector (412) is formed on a contact surface of a light-transmissive plate (301) and the reflector (412) and a cooling channel (340) for introducing cooling air to a source lamp (411) through the pair of openings (302) and a first and a second cooling channel shutters (350, 360) for shutting the cooling channel (340) when the case is detached from a projector (1) are provided on a case (300). The source lamp (411) can be efficiently cooled, so that the life of the source lamp (411) can be lengthened. Even when a light-emitting tube of the source lamp (411) is exploded while using the projector (1), the fragments of the light-emitting tube do not fall outside in exchanging the light source (413), and cooling efficiency of the source lamp (411) is not impaired.
