The present invention relates to a neovascularization inhibitor comprising as the active ingredient N-(3,4-dimethoxycinnamoyl) anthranilic acid represented by the formula: ##STR1## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, which has inhibitory effects on proliferation and chemotaxis of human microvascular endothelial cells and tube formation of human microvascular endothelial cells, and therefore, is useful as an agent for the prevention and treatment of diseases associated with neovascularization such as diabetic retino senile discoid macular degeneration, neovascular glaucoma and rheumatic arthritis.
Described is a rational design of therapeutic and/or prophylactic methods of treating conditions characterized by aberrant or otherwise unwanted microglial cell functioning and rational design methods for treating a range of neurological disorders which are characterized by nitric oxide induced neuronal damage.
