The present invention provides a method and system for viewing the contents of an application window that would otherwise be hidden. The method and system comprise displaying a plurality of application windows. The first application window of the plurality of application windows is the primary application window and a portion of another application window is being obscured by the primary application window. The method and system displays the primary application window at a variable degree of transparency based upon a user interaction. Through the use of the present invention a user can simultaneously view information from multiple applications where one or more windows are partially or wholly covering needed information in an underlying application. This will provide the user with the ability to quickly access needed information without having to undergo the time consuming process of resizing or rearranging desktop window configurations.
A method is provided which allows the display of messages, and particularly error or fault messages, from a plurality of user applications in data processing (processes) which are running in parallel with one another to be improved. The method relates in particular to the display of message of this kind which call for action by the user. Messages from processes running in background can be displayed in such a way that the user is not forced to interrupt the work he is doing at that moment.
The multimedia content browsing system for small mobile devices smoothly blends three key tasks: querying the multimedia contents by keywords, exploring the search results by viewing keyframes of the multimedia contents, and playing a stream of the multimedia contents, e.g., videos or video segments. Videos can be stored in a segment-based multimedia content database, which is designed to support the browsing, retrieval, and reuse of videos. A layered imaging model is introduced where each layer may have its own transparent value set individually, continuously, and interactively, and the layers can overlap on top of each other when rendered on the screen. Since a small mobile device alone may not have enough resources to handle the entire task of multimedia content browsing, a scalable architecture can be adopted to break up the task among the small mobile device, a Hard Disk Drive (HDD), and a resource-rich computing device.
An on-screen display generation apparatus (10) and method for controlling the same are provided, in which data from two or more independent sources (12, 16) is used by a windows controller (22) to generate and periodically update a respective display panel for each source based at least partially on data from that source. A display controller (28) is configured to generate output pixel values for display (32) based at least partially on contributions from two or more of the display panels (34, 36), with certain pixels having contributions from two display panels where a first panel is positioned to at least partially overlie a second and the overlying part of the first panel is specified as translucent.
An apparatus, method, system, and article of manufacture provide the ability to process image data in a computer system. A user-operable representation of at least one image-processing function is configured with an adjustable opacity. The user-operable representation is created and processed as a three-dimensional object. The opacity of the representation is adjusted in response to user input. The representation is ten blended with image data to generate blended image data that is output to a display.
The dynamically sized window automatically adjusts its right border if the text on the line exceeds beyond the window size, thereby eliminating a need for a manual adjustment of the window size and/or scrolling through the window. Moreover, the present invention enables a capability to increase only the selective parts of the window that displays a longer line. Similarly, adjustments to the window are enabled for those windows having graphical pictures whose size exceeds the window size. Windows overlapping other windows may be made transparent so that the underlying window is visible.
