A computer implemented method and a computer program product that is stored on computer readable media provides a parsing engine which will apply meta-language instructions to parse items discovered in a computer-based search with particular application to web sites accessible using the internet.
In a communication system having one or more monitored devices communicatively coupled to a monitoring system, a method of obtaining status information of a monitored device is described. The method includes creating a communication session using HTTP protocol with the monitored device, ii) accessing a web page of the monitored device in order, to obtain information displayed on the web page, iii) parsing the displayed information using a first and second data structure vectors in order to obtain the status information of the monitored device, and iv) closing the communication session upon parsing all the information displayed on the web page or upon obtaining desired status information.
A method for analyzing a target system that includes obtaining a plurality of characteristics from the target system using a characteristics extractor and at least one selected from the group consisting of a software build project associated with the target system and a modified software build project associated with the target system, wherein the plurality of characteristics is associated with a characteristics model, storing each of the plurality of characteristics in a characteristics store, and analyzing the target system by issuing at least one query to the characteristics store to obtain an analysis result.
The invention is directed to a method performed by a meta search engine. In the method a search response provided from the primary search engine in a search response presentation is processed by the meta search engine. The method comprises that the meta search engine adapts itself to a new search response representation. The invention is also directed to a method performed by a computer system to configure an interface to at least one primary search engine. The interface has the function to extract search results from a search response from the primary search engine in a search response representation. The method comprises the automatically adapting of the interface to a new search response representation. The invention is also directed to a corresponding computer system and a corresponding computer program product.
A method of extracting, using SNMP, information associated with a monitored device communicatively coupled to a network, including parsing an access string to determine whether the access string is empty, and to determine whether the access string includes a first predetermined string when the access string is not empty; if the parsing step determines that the access string is not empty and that the access string includes the first predetermined string, accessing the device using a first SNMP access function to obtain a value associated with the type of status information; and if the parsing step determines that the access string is empty or that the access string does not include the first predetermined string, accessing the device using a second SNMP access function to obtain the value associated with the type of status information.
A system for facilitating online searches suggests query autocompletion strings (terms and/or phrases) to users during the query entry process, wherein the suggested strings are based on specific attributes of the particular database access system being searched. A string extraction component associated with a database access system, such as a web site of an online merchant, periodically generates a dataset that contains the autocompletion strings for the system. The datasets are preferably biased to favor the database items that are currently the most popular (e.g., best selling or most frequently viewed), and may be customized to particular users or user groups. The datasets are transmitted to users' computing devices, which may include handheld and other wireless devices that lack a full keyboard. An autocompletion client which runs on the computing devices in association with a browser uses the datasets to suggest the autocompletion strings as users enter queries that are directed to the database access system.
