Detergent mixtures comprising (a) an oligomeric esterquat which is the product of the process which comprises reacting a mixture of a mono-carboxylic acid and a dicarboxylic acid with an alkanolamine to form an alkanolamine oligoester and reacting the alkanolamine oligoester with an alkylating agent and (b) the product of the process which comprises reacting an alkylene oxide and a fatty acid amidoamine, wherein the weight ratio of components (a) to (b) is from about 10:90 to about 90:10; and wherein the oligomeric esterquat has at least two cationic centers.
The application relates to a medium viscosity, clear fabric softening composition, comprising (a) from about 1 to 20 wt. % of an oligomeric esterquat, derived from the reaction of an alkanol amine with (i) a polycarboxylic acid; and (ii) a fatty alcohol or a fatty acid; or (iii) a mixture of a fatty alcohol and a fatty acid, followed by partial quaternization (leading to a mixture of oligomeric esteramine and of esterquat); (b) at least about 0.2 wt. % dipropylene glycol, said fabric softening composition being free of isopropanol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and polyglycols; (c) an effective amount of a water insoluble perfume; and (d) an effective amount of a thickening agent to provide a viscosity of from 80 to 700 mPa.s in the softening composition, said thickening agent being selected from the group consisting of (i) non-ionic water-soluble cellulosic polymer derived from the condensation of cellulose and ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide; (ii) ethoxylated and/or propoxylated fatty alcohol polyurethane associative thickener; and (iii) cationic polyacrylate copolymer.
The application relates to a medium viscosity, clear fabric softening composition, comprising (a) from about 1 to 20 wt. % of an oligomeric esterquat, derived from the reaction of an alkanol amine with a polycarboxylic acid and with a fatty alcohol and optionally a fatty acid, followed by partial quaternization (leading to a mixture of oligomeric esteramine and of esterquat); (b) at least about 0.2 wt. % dipropylene glycol (c) from about 0.2 to 2.5 wt. % of a water insoluble perfume; and (d) from 0% to an effective amount of a thickening agent or mixture of thickening agents, selected from the group consisting of (i) non-ionic water-soluble cellulosic polymer derived from the condensation of cellulose and ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide; (ii) ethoxylated and/or propoxylated fatty alcohol polyurethane associative thickener; and (iii) cationic polyacrylate copolymer.
Methods of improving the stability of a composition containing a long-chain esterquat and methods of improving the microbicidal properties of a cosmetic composition are described wherein a short-chain esterquat having acyl groups derived from a mixture of at least one monocarboxylic acid having from 6 to 10 carbon atoms, and at least one dicarboxylic acid having from 2 to 12 carbon atoms is combined with a cosmetic composition.
A fabric softener composition in which a blend of high mono alkyl MDEA and TEA ester quats is provided. The fabric softener composition includes a blend of from about 15 to about 65%, by weight of the total blend, of a triethanol amine ester quat and from about 35 to about 85%, by weight of the total blend, of a methyl diethanol amine ester quat having a mono alkyl ester quat level of about 10% or greater.
A sunless tanning composition having dihydroacetone and an amphoglycinate (amphoacetate) in an amount effective for sunless tanning is provided. Also provided is a method of sunless tanning having the step of topically applying to the skin an effective amount of a sunless tanning composition having dihydroacetone and an amphoglycinate.
