In a terminal formed in a housing on which an electrical part is mounted, set in an opening that receives the pin projecting from this electrical part, and connecting the pin inserted into this opening by mounting this electrical part on this housing, defective connections between the terminal and substrate due to force transmitted to the terminal is prevented. The terminal of the present invention provides a supporting part on the housing, an engaging part formed at the end side of the supporting part and engaging with the pin, and a branched part that branches form the sides if the supporting part and is connected to the substrate on which the housing is mounted.
A contact 4 for a PGA socket 1 is formed with a plate-like base portion 41, a pair of projecting portions 42a, 42b provided continuously at one end of the base portion 41 to extend in a direction substantially equal to the base portion, a turned portion 43 provided continuously at the other end of the base portion 41 to face the base portion 41, and a tail portion 44 provided continuously at the other end of the base portion 41 not to face the base portion 41. The turned portion 43 is provided with a contact portion 43a contacting a pin of a PGA package on a surface of the turned portion 43 not facing the base portion 41. This prevents flux from adhering on the contact portion 43a of the contact 4 when the contact 4 is soldered on a board.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, an electrical connector (10) includes an insulative housing (15) defining a number of passages (18) and a number of conductive terminals (20) seated in corresponding passages, respectively. The conductive terminal includes a base section (22), a bent section (23) projecting angularly from the base section and having a planar section (26) parallel with the base section, a spring arm (24) sticking upwardly and obliquely out of the passage, and a soldering pad (25) to be mounted on a circuit substrate (28).
