According to the present invention a communication method and a communication system/network is provided comprising at least one server and a plurality of user terminals. Wherein the user terminals can share information with each other and with the at least one server by means of the internet each user can be accessed by means of a unique address. Thereby a plurality of different unique addresses can be assigned to one user. A corresponding assignment information is stored in a table of the server. The assignment information enables the server to associate a plurality of different addresses for the same user. Respectively one profile can be associated to one of the plurality of addresses assigned to one user, the profiles containing characteristics of the preferences and/or interests of the associated address and being stored in a database of a profile manager. Respectively one home page can be created and associated to one of the plurality of addresses assigned to one user, the home pages being stored on the server. The server furthermore can comprise a group database containing different predefined groups, preferences and/or interests of each group as well as the user addresses which are members of the corresponding group.
A transactional name server. One or more objects of the name server are managed as transactional objects, thereby providing a transactional name server. Atomic updates are provided in the name server by the addition of transactional semantics. The transactional semantics include making the objects of the name space managed objects and providing a local interface to a directory service that propagates a transactional context from the name server through a directory down to a resource manager.

In an exemplary embodiment, the invention provides for creating a dynamic customer profile by analyzing relationships in data from one or more data sources of an enterprise. The method can be used with many popular visualization tools, such as On Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) tools and the like. The method is especially useful in conjunction with a meta-model based technique for modeling the enterprise data. The enterprise is typically a business activity, but can also be other loci of human activity. The human behavior profiled is typically that of a customer, but can be any other type of human behavior. Embodiments according to the invention can display data from a variety of sources in order to provide visual representations of data in a data warehousing environment.
Methods and systems for enabling efficient electronic communication between individuals affiliated with an organization are provided. The present invention enables a user, such as an administrator, to prepare and deliver an electronic announcement to users without specifically identifying each user or creating a predefined group of users. These targeted electronic announcements are deliverable to such users based, in part, on descriptive attributes, such as academic attributes, that distinguish such users or users from other members of a community information system, such as a university. Additionally, embodiments of the present invention facilitate designating attributes that define the manner used to distribute the electronic announcement, such as to a user or recipient's personalized web page acting as an interface to the community information system. Other attributes include a designation as to the priority of the electronic announcement, an expiration period or date that defines when the message will automatically be deleted, and the like.
