A method and apparatus for wrapping paper and board rolls in a wrapper, in which method the roll (10) to be wrapped is conveyed to a wrapping station, is placed on support means and is rotated resting on said support means. The wrapper (24, 27) is threaded about the roll (10) to be wrapped so as to form at least two wrapper plies and the wrapper plies are bonded to each other at least partially with the help of a binder. The rolls to be wrapped are wrapped into at least two parallel and overlapped courses of wrapper using a wrapper web material whose surface is coated with a hot-melting and heat-sealable material that is melted prior to the wrapping of the wrapper about the roll in order to bind the superimposed plies of the wrapper to each other and to seal the joints of said overlapped courses of wrapper.

This is a national stage of PCT application No. PCT/FI98/0063, on Sep. 1, 1998. Priority is claimed on that application, and on patent application No. 980093 filed in Finland on Jan. 16, 1998.
The electronic tag authentication device of the present invention authenticates the contents of an electronic tag attached to goods. The electronic tag authentication device comprises an antenna directivity change unit for changing the directivity of an antenna for transmitting/receiving electrical waves in order to authenticate the contents of the electronic tag.
A package of a roll, particularly a paper web roll comprising a wrapper, particularly a paper web wrapper wound stagewise into at least two wrappings about the roll in an overlap fashion. The paper web wrapper is wound about the roll in a slightly helical manner so that the edges of the wrapper layers overlap in a staggered fashion. The staggered edges of the overlap wrapping are formed so that each superposed wrapper layer conceals the underlying wrapper layer, whereby in a finished wrapping of a product only one wrapper edge remains visible.
A roll wrap for wrapping a paper roll is provided. The roll wrap includes an outer wrapper and a header. The outer wrapper is constructed for circumscribing the periphery of the paper roll long a length of the paper roll from a first end of the paper roll to a second end of the paper roll. The outer wrapper includes a peripheral wrapper portion, a first edge region for forming a first crimp, a second edge region for forming a second crimp, an interior surface for contacting the paper roll, and an exterior surface. At least one of the exterior surface first edge region and the exterior surface second edge region or the interior surface first edge region and the interior surface second edge region includes a self seal adhesive. The header includes a first surface and a second surface. At least one of the first header first surface and the header second surface includes a self seal adhesive. A wrapped paper roll and a method for wrapping a paper roll are provided.
