Abstract
A stator core-end of an electric generator utilizes amorphous metal laminate packages to reduce eddy currents and heating in the stator core thereby increasing generator capacity. The packages are formed as complete units before installation into the stator core. The amorphous metal laminate packages comprise alternating layers of amorphous metal laminates and non-amorphous metal laminates.

The invention is to provide a metal plate of laminated heterogeneous materials, and an iron core of the same, where a plurality of metal plates of different material qualities are easily and stably joined, have characteristics over many applications, may attain low production cost, and provide a making method thereof. That is, a metal plate of laminated heterogeneous materials, which is joined by laminating a plurality of metal plates of different material qualities, is joined by caulking a first material body of the metal plate of the laminated heterogeneous materials having notches at intermediate parts thereof, as well as caulking projections formed by cutting down rows of both ends thereof in the length direction of the notches, and a second material body of the metal plate of the laminated heterogeneous materials formed with caulking holes for inserting the caulking projections, at the caulking projections of said first material body and the caulking holes of the second material body.

6713930 - Power generator - Owned by General Electric Company

A power generator that operates at a reduced temperature level includes a flux shunt that reduces the amount of fringing magnetic flux axially impinging upon a stator, flange, and multiple keybars during operation of the generator. By reducing the amount of axially impinging flux, the flux shunt reduces an operating temperature of the stator and flange and reduces a voltage differential between keybar voltages induced by the flux in the multiple keybars.

7265473 - Reduction of core-end losses of dynamoelectric machines by using lower core loss iron silicon punching - Owned by General Electric Company (Schenectady, NY)

Electric machines can be improved or uprated to reduce core-end losses using lower core loss material such as high grade iron silicon. A machine uprating entails removing at least a last one of the stacked lamination packages at each end of the stator core, and re-stacking the removed lamination packages with the lower core loss material.
