A cap for a container may comprise a body, an outlet orifice for dispensing a product from a container, a lid configured to selectively cover at least a portion of the outlet orifice, a snap hinge coupling the lid to the body, and at least one shut-off flap. The at least one shut-off flap may selectively allow the product to be dispensed from the outlet orifice. The at least one shut-off flap and the body may be a single piece formed of a material substantially the same as a material forming the snap hinge.
A container assembly having a container, a fitment and a cap assembly. The container has at least one panel and at least one seal sealing the at least one panel to define a cavity. The fitment is coupled with the container, comprising a body having a first end and a second end. The second end extends away from the container, wherein the fitment provides fluid communication with the cavity. The cap assembly is releasably attachable to the second end of the fitment. The cap assembly comprises a base and a cover. The base includes an upper surface, a lower surface and an opening extending therethrough. The opening including an upper annular rim extending from the upper surface of the base and a lower annular rim extending from the lower surface of the base. The cover is attachable to the base to cover the opening. The cover includes an annular ring that extends along at least a portion of the upper annular rim of the opening and the lower annular rim of the opening. The annular ring forms a hermetic seal with at least one of the upper and lower annular rims of the opening.
A closure and container package includes a container having a finish with a mouth opening through which product is both filled into and dispensed from the container. A closure includes a base mounted on the finish and having an opening aligned with the mouth opening of the container finish. A lid is connected to the closure base by an integrally molded hinge to pivot between an open position in which the lid is spaced from the opening in the base and a closed position in which the lid is adjacent to the base. The lid includes facility for engaging either the mouth opening of the container or the opening in the closure base to close such openings in the closed position of the lid. In particularly preferred embodiments of the invention, a fitment is removably carried by the lid. The fitment has a dispensing opening and a peripheral snap bead for engagement with either the container finish or the closure base to secure the fitment in position, such that the fitment thereafter provides the dispensing opening through which product can be dispensed from the container, and the lid cooperates with the fitment to open and close the dispensing opening.
A container closure includes a base with a valve mount portion formed from a first thermoplastic material and a valve formed from a second thermoplastic material. The valve is bonded to the valve mount portion. A lid is hingeably attached to the base and includes a sealing rim extending from a surface of the lid and designed to engage the valve at the location where the valve seals to the valve mount portion. The engagement of the sealing rim with the valve forming a seal between the two components.
A container closure includes an adapter formed from a first thermoplastic material and a valve formed from a second thermoplastic material. The adapter and valve are bonded together in a multi-material molding process to form an adapter and valve assembly. The adapter and valve assembly is directly fastened to a base to form the closure.
A system includes a container including a sidewall and a closure plane attached to the side wall and including an opening, a neck region on the sidewall being adjacent to the closure plane. The system also includes a closure including a cap closure with a fitment adapted to fit in the opening, a circumferentially depending outer skirt adapted to secure the closure to the neck region of the container, and a hinge attached to the cap closure and the circumferentially depending outer skirt. A method for sealing a closure on a container includes pivoting the closure about a hinge towards a closure plane and engaging a fitment with an opening to provide a friction fit. A method for opening a container having a closure includes disengaging a fitment from an opening and pivoting the closure about a hinge away from a closure plane.
