Abstract
A roof edge fascia or coping cover having an aerodynamic exterior shape mainly comprising a lower face portion, an intermediate face portion, and a top face portion. The lower face portion is either generally vertical, or sloping or curving upwardly and outwardly, forming an angle within 60.degree. to the vertical outer wall surface of a building. The top face portion, of a substantial lateral size, is generally disposed within .+-.25.degree. from horizontal. The intermediate face portion, having at least one segment of a substantial lateral size sloping or curving upwardly and inwardly, connects the lower and top face portions. Slope changes at a junction between any two adjacent face portions, or adjacent segments thereof, are generally less than or equal to 50.degree.. Through controlling surface slope changes systematically, this invention ensures an aerodynamic roof edge configuration that effectively mitigate airflow separation from the building surface so as to suppress vortex formation and reduce adverse wind actions on a roof construction.

7587867 - Building with a roof having a wind deflection system - Owned by Weber; Lind (Mitchell, GA)

A building with a roof having a wind deflection system. The abstract of the disclosure is submitted herewith as required by 37 C.F.R. .sctn.1.72(b). As stated in 37 C.F.R. .sctn.1.72(b): A brief abstract of the technical disclosure in the specification must commence on a separate sheet, preferably following the claims, under the heading "Abstract of the Disclosure." The purpose of the abstract is to enable the Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and gist of the technical disclosure. The abstract shall not be used for interpreting the scope of the claims. Therefore, any statements made relating to the abstract are not intended to limit the claims in any manner and should not be interpreted as limiting the claims in any manner.

6912814 - Roof edging system - Owned by Metal-Era Inc. (Waukesha, WI)

A roof edging system for providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance to the periphery of a building roof is provided. The system includes an anchor bar releasably engageable with an anchor cleat having any desired width. After the anchor bar and anchor cleat are engaged with one another, the anchor bar and anchor cleat are secured to the exterior of the building using fasteners inserted through a number of apertures in the anchor bar and anchor cleat. The engagement of the anchor bar with the roof provides a waterproof seal between a roofing membrane placed on the roof and the anchor bar. A durable cover plate of a desired size may then be engaged with the anchor cleat and anchor bar to obscure the anchor cleat and anchor bar and provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance to the periphery of the roof of the building.

7451572 - Roof fascia with extension cleat - Owned by Metal-Era, Inc. (Waukesha, WI)

A roof edging system includes an anchor bar, an extension cleat attachable to the anchor bar, and a cover plate applied over the anchor bar and extension cleat. The anchor bar may be of a generally uniform size and shape and the extension cleat may be of varying sizes. The anchor bar and extension cleat are secured to the exterior of the building using fasteners inserted through a number of apertures in each member. The engagement of the anchor bar with the roof provides a waterproof seal between a roofing membrane placed on the roof and the anchor bar. The extension cleat provides a means to vary the overall length of the assembly. A durable cover plate may then be attached over the anchor bar and extension cleat to provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance to the periphery of the roof of the building.

7487618 - Aerodynamic roof edge guard - Owned by RenScience IP Holdings Inc. (Raleigh, NC)

An aerodynamic system attached to the outer side of the roof perimeter edge to mitigate wind generated vortices and uplift loads on the roof perimeter area of a building, applicable for both new constructions and retrofits of existing buildings. A roof edge guard is generally installed alongside a roof edge, and mounted onto an existing fascia or bargeboard. As an option most appropriate for new constructions, it can also be mounted directly onto a roof frame member in place of fascias or bargeboard. The configuration modifies the cross-sectional shape of otherwise abrupt roof edges that tend to generate strong vortex during high winds.

7276809 - Wind turbine assembly and related method - Owned by AeroVironment, Inc. (Monrovia, CA)

Wind turbine assembly, and related method, is provided that exploits an aerodynamically enhanced wind region of a building in proximity to a parapet of the building. A wind turbine assembly includes a support assembly configured to couple to a building in proximity to a parapet of the building and a rotor assembly coupled to the support assembly such that its rotor is oriented relative to the enhanced wind region to optimize electrical generation.
