A sealed battery includes a can for receiving an electric generator, a sealing member crimped on an opening of the can and connected to one of a positive electrode and a negative electrode of the electric generator, a gasket disposed between the can and the sealing member, a cover cap disposed on the sealing member with an insulating member disposed between the cover cap and the sealing member, a current control member disposed between the cover cap and the sealing member to cut-off a flow of current when a temperature of the battery is increased above an allowable level, and a shock absorber disposed between the cover cap and the current control member to prevent shock from being directly transmitted to the current control member.
A secondary battery includes a container an electrode assembly mounted in the container having a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and a cap assembly fixed to the container to seal the container. The cap assembly includes a cap plate having a terminal, a current breaker electrically connected to the cap plate; and a vent plate having a safety vent electrically connected to the current breaker, the shape of the vent plate being altered by the internal pressure of the secondary battery to alter the shape of the current breaker, and the current breaker cutting off the current path of the cap assembly.
Disclosed is a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a sealing unit including a conductive support plate, wherein the conductive support plate contains at least one kind of a conductive material selected from the group consisting of a metal, an alloy and a composite metallic material, each of the metal, the alloy and the composite metallic material has a modulus of elasticity (Young's modulus) at 25.degree. C. that falls within a range from 1.times.10.sup.11 Pa to 3.27.times.10.sup.11 Pa, and the conductive support plate has an area resistance value RS at 20.degree. C. falling within a range from 0.032 (.mu..OMEGA..multidot.cm.sup.2) to 1.24 (.mu..OMEGA..multidot.cm.sup.2).
A terminal for a sealed accumulator includes a single-piece body made of aluminium with at least one tinned zone for soldering to an electronic card and at least one non-tinned zone for connection to a current output terminal of the accumulator. The electrical terminal has a limited space requirement; welds well onto an accumulator container made of aluminium and allows easy assembly with an electronic card by soldering without risk of migration of tin which could cause a short circuit.
