Abstract
A precipitation resistant ventilator for a structure enclosing an interior space. The ventilator encloses a space that is in communication with the structure interior space. A thin sheet of air permeable water resistant material is disposed within the ventilator interior. The thin sheet of air permeable water resistant material forms a barrier that excludes the entry of precipitation and other foreign matter into the roof structure while still allowing air exchange.

6793574 - Vent with presecured mechanical fasteners - Owned by Solar Group, Inc. (Taylorsville, MS)

A vent which is attachable but not attached to a structure includes a body having openings for passage of air therethrough while resisting undesired entry of foreign matter. The body has a plurality of fastener receiving passageways. Passageways have an entry end and an exit end and fasteners extend into the passageways for retention therein prior to securement of the vent to the structure. The passageways are preferably composed of a resilient material and the passageway opening has at least portions of lesser opening size than the average diameter of the shank of the fasteners such as nails. In another embodiment, the passageways may be composed of a suitable metal. The passageway may have radially inwardly projecting portions which define a generally triangular segmented surface for retention of the fastener. The vent may be a roof ridge ventilator or other type of vent. The ventilator with the preattached fasteners may be shipped to the ultimate installation site in this manner thereby eliminating the need for the installer to separately handle and position each nail.

7393273 - Roof ridge vent, assembly and method of installation - Owned by Benjamin Obdyke, Inc. (Horsham, PA)

A roof ridge vent has a pair of opposed, spaced-apart, elongate strips of ventilation material providing ventilation passageways transversely therethrough and forms opposed longitudinally-extending sides of the vent. The elongate ventilation strips are interconnected by a plurality of supports extending transverse relative to the elongate ventilation strips. Each adjacent pair of supports defines an opening therebetween such that an underlying roof surface is visible to an installer through the openings. A vent assembly and method of installation are provided.

7493730 - Method of creating a roof venting space

A method of creating a roof venting space includes assembling a plurality of roof rafters where at least one end of the plurality of roof rafters are assembled to a surface to define a space between the one end of the plurality of roof rafters and the surface, attaching roof sheathing to the outside of the plurality of roof rafters where the roof sheathing covers the space creating a continuous internal ducting space, and connecting a vent to the continuous internal ducting space.
