In an indicating instrument, especially in a motor vehicle, having a cover glass (4) that appears dark and, under incident light, prevents any view of a dial (3) arranged at a distance behind it, and having at least one light source (8) arranged behind the dial (3) to transilluminate said dial (3) and therefore render the dial (3) visible through the cover glass (4). In order to prevent the dial (3) becoming visible when there is only incident light, the transmission of the dial (3) is matched to the transmission of the cover glass (4). To this end, in particular, the dial (3) is provided with a low transmission.
A dial gauge assembly includes a first pointer driven by a first motor and a second pointer that is driven by a second motor that rotates independently about a common axis. A first pointer rotates about an axis of rotation to indicate on the outer scale and a second pointer rotates about the same axis of rotation to indicate on the inner scale. The first pointer is mounted directly to a shaft of the first motor and the second pointer is mounted directly to a second shaft of the second motor.
In a display device, a display member for displaying information as an image receives a light from a light source arranged behind and is illuminated by the light. A decorative member is arranged on the front surface of the display member to partly cover the display member. The decorative member is illuminated by the light passing through the display member. The decorative member rises from the front surface of the display member and illuminates, thereby providing an enhanced three-dimensional appearance.
A lighting device for lighting a display surface is provided. The lighting device includes a light source, a lighting well and a lens, which is arranged between the light source and the display surface. Due to the combined use of the lighting well and the lens, light scattered laterally is also reflected in the direction of the display surface.
